Real thru hull leak
For those of you that have been chasing those illusive leaks, here's a new place to look. I have often found water in the bilge underneath the galley of my X. For years I have searched for the entry point. I have resealed almost ever place imaginable. After years it was finally revealed to me. A tru...

Re: I'm an A/C convert
First, this is not a commercial offer. If your serious about A/C on your X and want an easy way to do it, I may have an answer. I located an extra A/C box in my warehouse. It's precut PVC board, assembles with SS screws, and holds a 5000 BTU A/C. It slides into the companionway, bridges the cockpit ...

Re: Transom Wedge yea, Hydrofoil nay?
Definitely the wedges. It gives the motor a better angle of attack thus preventing the bow from rising as much during acceleration. Stay away from the foil. Possible undue stress and torque on stern and motor. Just my 2 cents. (Works for the 140. )

You may have a valid point concerning the M. I'm game if someone is willing to volunteer their M, but it appears T.S. Colin is already on its way out to sea. Oh, well.

Re: Flipping a Macgregor
I do much more reading than posting these days but felt I should weigh in here. I know for a fact an X with full ballast can be knockeddown-twice in a row. When it went over, it was on its side. Bow was not down. There is additional weight to consider. I have a 300 pound plus engine on the rear with...

Re: 26X centerboard repair
If you think you might need to replace the cb, you can order it from Ruddercraft. Joel has the original Mac molds for the centerboard and rudders. I got an extra set for my X a while back, just in case. I then repaired my damaged cb and reinstalled it. It's just fiberglass. Go for it. If you have ne...

Re: A/C box for Mac26x still being produced (Billy Box)
Glad to make the connections for you guys and that it all worked out. The a/c box should be available for a while since it's on a CAD program. There are actually two designs. One for the smaller a/c unit (5000 BTU) and one for a larger unit. If anyone else ever desires one, I'll be glad to help them...

Re: New Mac26D Owner, With An Unusual Mast?
The two pulleys at the top of the mast, I would guess one is for the main and the other may be a topping lift for the boom.

Re: Anybody near Raleigh want to build me a billy box?
For the record, I built the prototype. Because of the initial demand, I had a friend who runs a high end cabinet shop help me reconfigure it to cad program so we could produce the parts quicker and more accurately. The unit is made of PVC board and ss screws. I could probably have another run made, ...

Re: confused mast gate vs jackline
For a quick fix until you get your reefing lines, this is what I do. BTW, I single hand my X and have slugs in my main. Instead of a mechanical sail stop I use a ball bungee wrapped around the mast at the top of the gate. It gives me just a little more area for stacking the slugs nearer the gate. Pl...

Re: 26x Centerboard Hangs....
Sounds as if that extra 40 pounds is testing the line. Here's an idea. Why not attach a small wood or plastic extention onto the front of the center bunk using ss screws. This should help support the heavier cb at the same level as the bunk and assist in the launching. At least you won't have to swi...

Re: Confused about AC
That's all you will need. I've used a 5000 btu unit for over 10 years on 2001 X and it will put a chill in the cabin. It gets cold enough to stop the mosquitoes from flying. Best of luck.

Re: What is this wooden tiller-lookin thang?
I would agree with the lever idea of pulling the furler drum down for pinning. The double notches would fit on each side of the single forward cleat. Then one could lay a ss rod or heavy screwdriver over the notches and under the cleat. This would give the leverage one would need to pin the forestay...
