Honda 50
Is your gas fresh?.......I know you said you used Stabil but is your gas fresh? The idle rpm's should be 900-1000 rpms. The adjustemnt screw is located at the very bottom carburator......follow the linkage to the very bottom....you will notice it faces up and backwards some......much different then ...

Tip
If you know you're going to be away from the boat for a few weeks...............or really don't go through that much gas.....use a stabilizer in the fuel. B-12 is good maintenance for the every other tank fill up. One other thing that can help.......if there will be long periods of time during the m...

Re: Pickled Carbs
Thanks for the reply Tim. Really appreciate this. My ignorance of small engines is going to be broadcast now, for all of MacWorld to see. I Assume that this all happens at idle speed? Yes, after it has warmed up....depending on outside temp.....about 20 mins is good. I take a small pint size glass ...

When your motor can't reach at least WOT......your engine is lugging.........no matter what rpm you run at.....this leads to excessive wear on the engine. My 14x11 prop on my 50 HP Merc BF is slightly overpropped - I cant quite reach WOT as recommended by Mercury. I dont ever cruise at WOT so I dont...

Re: Honda BF 50 Maintenance
After the motor has warmed up........I take a small pint size glass jar half full of Sea Foam and use the other tank fitting which has been taken off the tank........I plug that into the fuel line and let the motor start drawing in the Sea Foam.....you'll know when it's getting in because the motor ...

Re: K.I.S.S.
Keep it simple to start out...........get yourself two cans of B-12 from Walmart.......add them to one tank........run the motor up and down the rpm range until the tank is empty......should clear it up. The pick up tubes in the bowls are super tiny and only takes a small amount of gunk to clog the...

Could you give a little more detail on what B-12 from Walmart is? Sounds like a simple fix, assuming it doesn't harm any rubber parts. Also, I posted about my dealer trying to sell me a water seperator, and got replies that it was a waste of money. Maybe not so? Berrymans Chemtool B-12....I myself ...
