Installing a forward hatch on a Venture 2-22

Looking to install a forward hatch in my Venture 2-22. Not sure what the factory specs were, but I was looking at a Bomar low profile model with a 19 3/4 square cutout. Is this size too big/small and are there any structural issues to consider? I was thinking of installing it on the foredeck just be...

Downsizing mast 1 foot...problems?

My Venture 2-22 sailboat came with a welded mast (previous owner repair) and I am having trouble trusting it's integrity. The factory mast is 24', can I go down to a 23' mast with no ill side effects? (found a great deal on one from a 22' Suncoast)

Thank you!

Re: Taking Venture 2-22 off of trailer...questions

So have you done anything yet. Photos? I just bought a 25M that I'd like to paint Not yet, I'm now considering dropping the trailer tongue to the ground, lifting the rear, and then using a backhoe and a lifting strap to bring up the bow and then support it in front of the keel. I'm kind of hesitant...

Taking Venture 2-22 off of trailer...questions

I plan on taking my Venture 2-22 off of her trailor for bottom paint. The plan so far is to bring her into the backyard (driveway is really steep, like 10 degree angle steep...) and park it with the bow slightly past my laundry poles, and then jack up the rear of the trailer and block up under the t...

Re: Painting in lazarette...what kind of paint?

Thank you for the fast reply! My local Farm and Fleet store has the Rustoleum Marine Top/Bottom paint and primer in stock. The laz is pretty rough inside, you have a nice suggestion, I'll check into that as well.
Thank you!

Painting in lazarette...what kind of paint?

I have a Venture 22, but also own a Chrysler Buccaneer. The lazarette on the Bucc is pretty dark and rough (fiberglass splinters). What kind of paint would anyone recommend to brighten it up inside and be durable? Would Rustoleum work?

Re: V21 Windows

I wish I could help, I do however remember seeing a post on a Mac/Venture resto that addressed this very issue, is may have been a 22/24 or 25 though. Either way, I would think the process is pretty much the same, keep digging though, it's on the web...good luck and let us know how you are coming al...

mac/venture 22 boom dimensions

I'm replacing the boom on my 1974 Mac/Venture 2-22 as the previous owner had mocked up some flimsy thing. I've read that the mast dimensions are 24 ft and the mast diameter itself is 3x4, a pretty straight forward extrusion available from Dwyer, but does anyone have the factory length and diameter o...

Anyone have spare parts for a Venture 2-22

I'm refurbing a 1974 (I think) Venture 2-22 and am looking for some "stuff" and info. First, I'd like to see some interior pics of what one looks like as I purchased mine gutted. I need information on placement, and size of the mast spreaders, as mine didn't have any and there are no holes...it was ...

Re: Looking to purchasa a Venture 2-24, have questions!

Yeah, upon further inspection and comparison, this boat is a 22 and not the 24 as the owner advertised...kinda disappointed, yet oddly interested all the same.

Re: Looking to purchasa a Venture 2-24, have questions!

It isn't set in stone, but I think I got this for $800. I'm supposed to pick it up on Friday if all goes well, and then she goes straight to shrink wrap and storage. Can't wait until spring!

Re: Looking to purchasa a Venture 2-24, have questions!

Just looked at a Venture 2-24 today, have pics of it... I posted earlier about going to look at a 1974 Venture 2-24. Previous owner said sails are great, rigging is great, mast is fine and keel is decent. Interior is gutted and dirty, and there are a few cosmetic blemishes here and there. He wasn't ...

Re: Looking to purchasa a Venture 2-24, have questions!

The Jeep does have a factory receiver hitch and I do have the round electrical terminal built into the hitch (I use a round to 4-flat converter). But I don't think that this a "tow package" though. It just looks like the factory hitch I see on thousands of them. I think the tow package option is gea...

Re: Looking to purchasa a Venture 2-24, have questions!

Hello and thank you all for your prompt replies, this place is great, and fast! Yes, like many things these days, I realize this is more of a personal material/interest item, and not an investment, unless you count fun, and that's subjective. It does kinda take the wind out of your sails (pun intend...

Looking to purchasa a Venture 2-24, have questions!

Hello, sorry, but this will be long, I am seeking some advice on a 1974 Venture 2-24 I'm currently looking at. Because of our current temps (lake ice forming), I will not be able to sail her, so I'm going by inspection alone, and, I'm pretty novice. First off, I'm choosing this boat because I am loo...
