Re: 3 months in the Keys

Can not help with parking suggestion in SW tip of Florida but offer this alternative. Launch/Park/Retrieve someplace in fresh water on the ICW. Attached is link of another Mac that launched in Indiantown. I am familiar with the Marina, safe/clean/inexpensive. Advantage for a Wisc boater is you don’...

Re: 3 months in the Keys

South Dade Marina I did your trip a while back. T’was a Great Adventure. Here’s Fun reading -Even met up with Cuscus! Good Times😎 Due to Jan, Feb winds from my 3x experience, I recommend a Bay side vs Ocean side stay/ anchorage YMMV. I’ll be eating my heart out and living through your dream. Good L...

Re: Securing Paddle Board

Very Kewl Starscream!

I like your rear quarter attachment. While I’ll tie down the ends, I wrap [slip knot] a 3/8” dock line around the middle of my board and use a clove hitch to attach it to the safety lines. I use 2 11’x 30” or 14’x28” paddle boards strapped to each side.

Re: 140hp on an X, #FloridaMan

Looks like a decent deal - but yer gonna need a new trailer. I’d offer $10K Cash - Really $9,5K. There’s no sailing gear pictured. I didn’t even see the brackets for the rudder. Mind you, I’m the Hugest fan of going Commando… but where’s the rest of the X :? Lastly, my :macx: pilots fine just using ...

Is There Anybody Out There? [Pink Floyd, The Wall]…

This is part of a side comment I made on Dlanderson putting his boat up for sale :? {I know we all have our time but sad to see him possibly move on}. My Marina is Shrinking! Where Is Everbody?!! I think Sailboat buyers are even less among even recent Covid boat buyers. I got <25 moored boats in my ...

Re: 26X Repower Questions

Ahh… Repower time 8) You’ve already gotten some good advice. Find. Local. Motor. Support. First. Second decide how much you wanna spend. How many people and weight that will be your cruising weight. What is your gas storage scenario. I run with 4 Tempo 5.5/6 Gal portables. Determine what an acceptab...

Re: High speed motoring ballast empty or full

If you're going Commando (Gazmn); i.e. No mast or sails, you should be fine motoring fast without ballast. Again, keep the crew in the cockpit or cabin and don't overload the boat. You should be fastest in this configuration due to the reduced wind drag achieved by removing the rig. Motoring with t...

Re: Male Human Liquid Waste Disposal System

So for some good reasons Id prefer to have an incabin waste system for pee. I also do not want to store containers and id prefer a system thats as sanitary as possible. Using the portapotty for a whiz is kind of more trouble than it’s worth. I am thinking of a gas funnel w cap spliced into the sink...

Re: Really Considering Selling My Sail Plan…

Hi All, As stated earlier, I’m keeping my sail plan. Thanks for all the comments, love and humor. Herschel, that was a good read on Genoa only sailing. I’ve done a bit of that, as the wind direction worked for my waters. So, my dilemma and previous sale consideration had to do with: Where to store a...
