Re: Poor mans impact wrench

1) I thought you were going to talk about a hand impact driver. There are times they really come in handy. Especially slotted screws that get stuck. http://www.ehow.com/how_4809810_use-hand-impact-driver.html 2) Nut blaster or whatever its called is supposed to be better than liquid wrench although ...

Re: Cheap A/C

Can you tell us the model and manufacturer of the heat pump? oddly enough I already have a dryer vent installed for my bilge blower to the port fuel locker. That thing would be just the ticket for my X.
Thanks.

Re: Honeywell 2000i Generator

What is your main usage intended for the generator? If 1000 watts will suffice, you can save a bunch and buy a very cheap, quiet reliable (albeit 2 stroke) Chinese unit. They sell for anywhere from 100 bucks to 140. I bought one about 6 years ago and it is very quiet. Dead simple little engine that ...

Re: Texas Macgregor dealer????

I'm a Texan now, but have an X. Now if someone were to send me a free M, I might be persuaded to help out. My boat is at Matagorda Bay , and I work in downtown Houston. Work keeps me pretty busy though.

Re: I keep thinking this hoist would be handy for the boat

The crane tower disassembles for storage when not in use. Its not that high when you consider the boat height and the lifting strap geometry. It would only be able to lift the boat a couple of feet I think. I guess I was spoiled at my old marina in NJ. The nice owner would put my boat on the hoist o...

I keep thinking this hoist would be handy for the boat

Anybody else think this would work for just picking up 1 end of the boat to allow for bottom maintenance?

Re: Polypropylene Rope

Caution, honest opinion follows, proceed at your own risk. Polypropylene is pretty much crap. It will look fine, but be totally weakened by UV. Just a little tug and the line will part. It should not even be legal to sell it as rope. Before it degrades, it is slippery and does not tie well. If I am ...

Re: Car Speakers

I put a pair of outdoor Yamaha speakers in my cabin. They are amazing compared to the car speakers I used before. Got them on sale for about 60 bucks or so at a radio shack 2 years ago. they are fully enclosed in a white housing. http://hdtvdreams.com/Yamaha-NS-AW190-Natural-Sound-All-Weather-Speake...

Re: Mac seat - where/how does it go?

Sure anytime. I would suggest sending the maker an email and explain that you need the back tubes. Since they still make the seat, should be a simple matter to get new tubes. Even if they charge a few bucks it would be well worth it to be able to use the seats again. When sailing and steering, I sit...

Re: Mac seat - where/how does it go?

I bought one of those at a West Marine or somesuch place about 6 years ago. It was called "the amazing seat" It makes a nice seat in the cockpit while sailing. Those plastic tubes rotate and insert into another tube that makes the back support leg. then you just put it down and sit on it. (The price...

Re: Need a fishtape

home depot or lowes electrical dept. Comes is a reel made of either plastic or steel about 10 inches in diameter. I'm not good at it , so have no advice worth giving, except maybe to get one no longer than you need. I absolutely hate using them. they get sharp spots that can cut your hands, they are...

Re: My Tohatsu 50

Mine has done the same thing, it was aIr leaking into the fuel line. Try replacing the quick connector at the gas tank, tightening all hose clamps etc and check for any sign of air getting in. if that and new plugs doesn't help, shoot carb cleaner into the carb bowl drains. SHould fix it up. Good luck

Re: Help regarding Sailboat

A retired doctor at my old marina in NJ had a venture 17 and was out sailing it every day even in pretty stormy weather. Nice little boat seemed to sail very well, would also heave-to very well. I think almost any vehicle could tow it. I would assume the sails would be shot on a boat that vintage if...

Re: lost windex

Thanks, very interesting. Swimming weasel, swimming duck (both swimming toward you). Saw the bat also. Sorry to get off topic.

I use wind tells that are a little plastic snap thing that pops on the shroud and about an 8 inch red ribbon. Really works well.
