Re: Land Macgregor spotted
I brought my 26M down here to Mulege. Warm days, cool nights. Splashing for first time this year tomorrow morning. WInds and tides line up okay for a 3 day trip around Bahia Concepcion (see the above picture!) Road conditions. I would not come to Baja with a single axle Mac. As soon as I got my Mac ...

Re: New Tow Vehicle; Size Constraint
Forgot to mention the Antenna. It is a ham radio antenna. The van is set up with short wave so I can chat with friends around the country (world for that matter) while super slabbing to Mexico. I don't do the big cities in Mexico. My partner and I have a place in Mulege. Nice little coastal communit...

Re: New Tow Vehicle; Size Constraint
Pic from a year ago when I stopped for coffee while en route to Baja Mexico. Will do the same this year, but later. The only place I get slowed down or even know it is there is the "Grape Vine" on I5 in California. 10 minutes of 2500 rpm in second gear. Van is set up with solar panels on t...

Re: Could use some advise
As Boat pointed out, it looks like a gell coat spider which is caused by putting a screw into gel coat before counter sinking the gel coat. Spiders can be avoided by simply lightly counter sinking the hole so scrape gel coat away. This allows the screw to catch the fiberglass without catching the ge...

Re: EXPLAIN PLEASE - Mac Bump (trailer)
Mac bump works better if you have put silicon on the friction areas of your bunks. It does not take much to move the boat forward. I have found that just slowing down going down hill will slide the boat forward. I have also installed a strap roller above the winch where I feed the strap/hook then to...

Re: Getting ready to detail my 26M
I used the McGuire kit. Two compound types plus a marine wax Got a good buffer, lambs wool pads and went at it. Made my fast white hull shiny and took the grey out of the black stripes. I used vinegar, water and regular window cleaner for the windows. Pretty happy with the results.

Re: Towing my inflatable tender - concerned about the prop
could not have said this better. This is exactly how I tow my dinghy. :macm: here is what i do: many points mentioned before! 1. floating rope( polypropelene- it floats, is cheap, and it has a bit of stretch in it too, but does sunburn, so inspect it regulary) 2.if there is any weight in the dingy- ...

Re: Yamaha 9.9 stalls at idle and low throttle - please advi
Fuel flow problem. These little engines have tiny jets. I'm sure you were careful winterizing but just to be sure: Before putting engine away for winter: 1) Put gasoline stabilizer in the gas. 2) Shake up the engine to get stabilizer mixed. 3) Run the engine for 5 minutes or so. 4) Shut the gas line...

Re: Cabin slide repair
I did the Velcro mod a few weeks ago. On my M, I was able to just take the bolts out of one side (port) and only the bolts that had access caps from within the cabin (7 or 8?) Several required that I use a flat blade screw driver to jam the nut so that it would not turn. I did this until I could get...

Re: Question on Standing rigging ?
Adjusting the shrouds with verniers while fully stepped is done with this simple tool: http://shop.bwyachts.com/product-p/1301-110.htm . A Johnson lever for the fore-stay would be a better investment then turnbuckles. Once set, the verniers do not move and stainless steel cable does not stretch (or ...

Re: Aluminum trailer I beam fracture
No more than the steel axles and numerous stainless steel bolts used throughout the trailer. I'm not sure what you are getting at? I always wash my trailer with fresh water after a launch and recovery, including the all important brake disks. I also keep my trailer tongue low to the ground during st...
