Re: Has My Mast Been Compromised???

The mast on our Mac 25 that was severely bent and even kinked in a spot after the trailer and boat blew over in a storm over 12 years ago. We placed it between a couple trees on the ground and bent it back as best we could. It still has a kink and twist to it but has never gotten worse even though t...

Re: Whisker pole mounting for an "M"

I use a standard stainless steel eye riveted to the front of the mast. I never broke anything but it does tend to catch the genoa sheets when coming about if the genny doesn't get across before the mast rotates.

Re: Mast Wiring?

I used a single pair for my bow pulpit horn and the bow light by reversing polarity with a relay for the horn and blocking the horn current with a diode for the light.

Re: Refused Insurance

so your saying your boat is not insured with it's own policy.you only have homeowners insurance and that policy repaired your boat.i have been with statefarm homeowners for 40years,they recently gave a bid of 280.00 year for my 2008 26M on its own policy only.if you infact are covered under a homeo...

Re: Refused Insurance

We have State Farm and they don't have an issue with our Mac 26 in or out of the water. Coming back from Havasu this year we hit ice and high cross winds just north of Rawlins, Wy.; we spun out of control barely missing an oncoming semi and ended up in the ditch with a totaled trailer and a damaged ...

Re: Mast Wiring?

As long as the wire gauge is sized properly for the total load there should be no issue; however, having a pair for each light might avoid confusion if one is trying to troubleshoot or figure out how it's wired.

Re: Refused Insurance

I was looking online for an insurance quote for my 2000 26X with 50HP Yamaha. When I noticed this statement on the Allianz website: Vessels Not Covered - Catamarans and all other Multihulled Vessels, Jet Skis, House Boat, Ferro Cement Hull, McGregor , Monterey, vessels constructed from Carbon Fibre...

Re: WIND SYSTEM CHOICE

Will the Tacktick system display properly with the rotaing mast on the 26M? I might still consider it regarless. The mast rotates about the same each time so the error would be consistant. I've always thought if someone came out with a wind instrument display with two scales on it--one for starboard...

Re: WIND SYSTEM CHOICE

I put a horn on the bow pulpit and couldn't figure out an easy way to get the wires through. I eventually used the existing wire for the bow light with some diodes and a relay so it could provide power to both the horn and the light, but that doesn't help with your installation. I wish MacGreggor wo...

Re: Roller furler "Memory"

Mine had several bends in it because of the way it was strapped to the mast during transport. No amount of reverse bending or heat seemed to help so I finally bought a new one. Now I notice, to my chagrin, that it developed a twist. I'm guessing from the torsion when it's rolled. That's more annoyin...
