Re: How would you design a trailerable power sailor?

:macm: If it has a dinette you shouldnt worry about racing it!
Even with the 50 hp the Mac will get you in when weather pops.
As others have said, its an inexpesive boat that will do everything, but nothing great. Get out on the water!

Re: Adding a forestay forward of furler?

:macm: Before purchasing my 07 I spent a lot of time reading this forum and there has always been much angst regarding the single pin that attaches the furler. While my dealer assured me it was up to the task , I installed a jib halyard anyways. Necassary for raising a jib cover, and if tied off to ...

Re: Planing

:macm: I easily got 15 to 17 mph with my 07 Suzuki 50. No ballast, 2 adults. As others have said likely the prop size, pitch.
I upgraded in 08 to the 70 but i believe the target rpms are the same, 5000 to 5200.

The 50 never would get up on plane with ballast.
Good luck

Re: New winch for 2007 Al trailer

1050 kg sounds comparable to 2500 lbs, and yes double tooth.
Seems like an upgrade over original and no drilling

New winch for 2007 Al trailer

Anyone know the capacity of the oem winch? Im looking at 1 that matches exsiating bolt pattern thats rated at 2500 lbs. That seems sufficient but i thought I would ask the experts before ordering.

Re: Rudders up when motoring

I typicaly pull the rudders as soon as I clear the no wake zone leaving the marina. Ive forgotten a few times and the boat will remind you fast. Cant explain the physics, but under power reacts different than under sail. Have sailed comfortably at 8mph but powering at that speed she gets very squirr...

Re: Props again, sorry! Suzuki DF50.

In meanwhile I got a chance to try a http://www.propulse.se propeller. With the lowest pitch setting (whatever that is) it makes ~6200 rpm and 14-15 knots (17 mph) with the boat empty but the mast up. I guess that is not very good? :macm: MY 2007 came outfitted with a Suzuki DF50 and an 11.5 x 10 p...

Re: Using genoa as a jib?

JJan - I see your Sailing St. Clair, The Genny will be fine. I sail the south western end of Lake Erie and rarely do I need to furl the genny. When the wind gets that high Erie or St Clair will too be choppy to be out in anyways. Added benefit to Genny, In light winds you can troll for Walleye with ...

2007 Al Trailer need some help!

Im working down here in Alabama and cant get to the boat. We'll be pulling the boat up North next week and I'd like to order some new tires. Can someone verify that the 2007 trailer is a 4.5" 5 lug pattern?

Thanks in advance,

JC

Re: Furler setup Questions

I cut the end off an old fender and slip it over the furler drum while raising the mast. Keeps the drum from causing all kinds of scratches.
