Salt Lake to Seattle
I am considering towing my 03M from Salt Lake City to Anacortes later this summer. The best route apears to be I-84 to I-82 into Seattle. Has anyone made this trip, is there any concern with steep grades or switchbacks that would make this trip difficult for towing. Any suggestions on a better route...

Gary - this area is not particularly well developed for cruising sailors. There are no anchorages outside in the Gulf, unless you count oil rigs, and the cuts are far and few between. There is a cut at Port Mansfield, but you need some local knowledge to navigate it, after that it will be the jettie...

I have owned several Mac's and I agree with most of what is said here about structural strength of Mac's. But I did have a scare recently with my 03 M. I was adding a mounting snap inside the cockpit to hold up the cushions on the back of the seats. I drilled a 3/32 hole through the liner and then i...

Boarding Ladder 26M
I got the factory ladder with my boat, but the dealer did not install it. Any body have dimensions or pictures on where it is best to install. I assume some of the ladder extends below the hull, any measurments would be appreciated.

I have owned five MacGregor sailboats starting with a Venture 21 and now a 26M. I agree with what has been said, if an M is faster than an X, it is measured in seconds per mile, and it depends much more on how the boat is set up and how it is sailed. When I first got my 2003 M, it would barely tack ...

Jib Dimension - 26M
Does anyone know the official dimensions of the jib for the 26M and 26X, or is there a site that has sail specifications. Seems like Macgregor does not publish this information anywhere.

Roller Furling
Does anyone have much experience using the CDI unit with a Genoa. The Macgregor advertising says it can be used partially rolled up with no loss of sail shape. That would imply that there is foam sewed into the luff of the sail to keep the mid section tight when rolled. I have this unit with the sma...

waternwaves - do you know what the density is for resin ? I could not find a reference but I am guessing just heavier than water, so about 70 #/cf. That would make a 300# block something larger than 4 cubic feet. A fairly large and expensive blob to fit in the tank. I am not saying that isn't the an...

26 M Ballast
Does anybody know what the 300 Lbs of ballast in the M consists of, and where it is located ? I cannot find a description in any of the Mac advertising literature. Is it lead that was place in the tank, or maybe they used regular cast iron like the old Venture keels ? And how is it attached, it woul...
