vitalis, where in europe are you? i'd recommend to replace to whole steering system with a common teleflex or hydraulic system. try to get the spare parts here. if you order them from the u.s., the shipping cost willl be higher than the part's price.

carl, i m not really shure what happened to you and where your pin actually is, but you can pull this pin out which holds the furler drum in place, and slide the whole thing upward. this allows you to control the forestay and turnbuckle and hopefully to recover the lost item. iof you need furthert i...

dimitri, i NEVER EVER would drill holes below or near the waterline and only seal them with marine sealant as 5200! you re asking for trouble! okay, first i would not drill below the waterline at all. if ever i had to, i would seal the holes very accurately with epoxy. 5200 is not a durable solution...

zuma, i broke my "end cap" like chip did, and was i europe, and the replacement part 10,000 miles away. put it back in the boom, drilled 4 small holes (X-wise) and fixed it with rivets. lasts sice 5 years and several hard baltic storms.

it is not (only) the question of growth. if you keep your boat in the water you should imperatively paint your hull with an epoxy barrier coat to prevent osmosis! search for "osmosis" or "blisters" on this board. or ask the blue water crew for their opinion. epoxy paint is expens...

have the factory bimini, so voted "other" - am i right? it came with the boat and i find it quite ok. i keep it mounted during the season although the baltic summers do not provoke a frequent use (it helps against rain also 8) ).

i use to look around the sail every few minutes. this is ok in low to medium traffic areas. and don't forget that there IS a window to look thru: simply lower your head and look thru the cabin and the front windows!

drilling into the stringers is about the same as drilling thru the hull and bolt you battery to the floor! a secure way to flood your cabin (you have positive flotation though  ). the only places you can drill thru are the bulkheads that are accessible from both sides (and be shure that there ...

i would NOT cut the helm seat, i like it as it is. but i think about changing the angle of the steering wheel, to put it more vertical would also increase the space behind it. not the most urgent thing on my to-do-list though...
