Re: Spinnaker Hardware & Rigging Questions

I have to admit that I used to sail a 26-X out of Casa Reo in Mayo MD and owned a Spinnaker for 5 years and never flew it. When the wind was that light I just fired up the Honda 50 and kept going. :) :) :)

Re: Snail Slugs

The trouble with getting a bunch of snail slugs is then you have to find a mast rake to keep them under control so they don't wander all over the boat. :D :D :D

Re: Chesapeake Bay sailing recommendations? (From Powersailors)

I recomend the book "Cruising the Chesapeake: A Gunkhollers Guide" By William H Shellengerger. It covers the entire bay from a sailors viewpoint. It recomends several trips broken down by how much time to plan. It also lists all the available points of interest and facilities at each destination. It...

Gee! 40 degrees and raining. That might make it a bit difficult to talk someone else into joining. :D

A small 150watt inverter should handle a couple of the new LED strings of lights. Mine ran about $30 and will handle 15 amps maximum. Watch the amperage and keep your engine running so you don't run the battery down too much. :)

Portable Microwave

I just found this on Al Gore's wonderful internet. Looks like what a lot of us have been needing to complete our galley. A portable microwave that runs on ac or dc power. Find it at www.thewavebox.com. :) :) :)

Re: 26M Dock Height.

Don't forget to take the tides into account. Depending on where you are they can make a big difference. I spent a few days at the Coast Guard station at Cape May, NJ and soon discovered that the dock I could step out on when I arrived was 20 feet above my deck just a few hours later. :x

Got to love the tall ships. If they are going to race them then they should paint the hull blue. :D :D :D

one bit of caution to anyone using 3m products on their hull!!!!! check that it doesnot conatain ammonia in its composition, the stuff will make it shine them it will turn a yellowish tinge.thats why using bleach with ammonia on your whites is a bad idea Not to mention that the combination of a chlo...

Re: 26 very tippy can we do something

If I remember correctly, Mad Mike posted not so long ago a post about upgrades he has done to Zeno's Arrow. One of the upgrades he wrote about was his rudders, and why the standard ones would not be good for his planned sail across the Pacific to Hawaii. His example (if I remember well) was turning...

Uncle Jim, I used to keep my X at Casa Rio in Mayo. They will launch and retreve your boat for a few bucks a pop. If you have a more economical vehicle to get you to and from the marina you could probably save enough in gas costs to cover the launch fees and then some. Their storage fees are pretty ...

For what it's worth, that same 1/4" line can be used as a messenger line, attached to the lower end of the furler halyard, to lower the sail off the furler. I keep it attached to the halyard full time. It also comes in real handy when you drop the end of the halyard and watch it slide to the top of...

That sock is made to fit the jib and the genoa both. I found that with the jib I was getting some chaffing on the sock due to it flapping in the wind. I solved the problem by attaching a 1/4" line to the jib sheet when raising the sock and after the sock was zipped up I would wrap the small line aro...
