Re: Help identify Honda BF50

syscott,

I am aware of only one Honda dealer in Lake George,NY. There may be more, but the one I know of is Yankee Marine on Lake Shore drive. This may be a stretch, but try giving them a call; maybe they can help?

Re: Hand start and run Honda 50hp by rope??

The answer to whether you can start a 50HP Honda by hand is yes. Have I done it, no. What I do have on board is this. https://i.postimg.cc/64QhGrMH/D8420552-EFFD-4-FF6-BB01-8208-C375-C744.png Whether you start by hand or jump start the motor, once started, the motor will run until you run out of fue...

Re: Top Speed?

Once, when fully empty, with no ballast, and only me at the helm, I got my 2005 :macm: with a Honda 50 hp 4 stoke, up to 30.5 KPH; it was a calm day. Close to 6,000 RPM. That’s the red line.

Fully loaded, with ballast and one other person on board, we’re talking 22.5 KPH; again at full throttle.

Re: Sail or Motor

so, I'm keeping my MacGregor 26X until some boat-necessary part of my body gives out. I’m with you Opi. I bought my 2005 :macm: in 2004, when I was fiftyfive :D The :macm: mast though is significantly heavier than the :macx: , so after the first time raising it by hand, I purchased the mast raising...

Re: Sail or Motor

The Mac is a fun boat; just go out and enjoy, and don’t worry about the little things in life; you’re saling :!: I once had a fellow ask to crew on my :macm: . He was big, maybe 6’7” (a little over 2 meters). He actually stood on the cabin sole, and his head was above the sliding hatch. He was also ...

Re: Wing Sails on a mac

I'm very new to sailing so forgive any blunders that may be obvious to a veteran. I'm in the process of buying a :macm: that needs new Sails pretty much all around. While shopping I came across this new "wing sail" tech that seems to be creeping into the industry. From the information I've been abl...

Re: Sail or Motor

I don’t wish to be a curmudgeon, but you left off a choice; not important enough to care about it. I purchased my 2005 :macm: at the 2004 Annapolis in water show. My boys are grown and far away, but getting out on the water is my heaven. I’ve had the chance to be at the helm of a 60’ catamaran in th...

Re: Question about interior carpets

The carpet I used was some remnant I picked up. I thought leopard would jazz things up. I had it cut and edged to finished it off. Marine carpet is not necessary.

Re: End of season approaching

Larry, I feel your pain, but since we have had no time on our Mac (first time in 15 yrs.), I am jealous of your five days :D Just try to keep the heeling at 10-15 degrees (let the main sheet out a little); she will get used to it, in time :) I’ve got a cousin in Sand Point, Idaho that we were planin...

Re: Help identify Honda BF50

I'm trying to learn about my new to me 1998 26X and it's powered by a decent running Honda BF50. I'm trying to figure out the year my engine was made so I can get any routine maintenance done on it. I had my local Honda dealer run the serial number stamped on the stern bracket and it shows the engi...

Here is a photo of my replacements on my 2005 :macm:

They’re hemmed, and not glued down.

Don’t be afraid to be adventurous. Grrrrr :D
