Re: M19 vs 26X In Rough Waters
My definition of rough (based on my confidence level/criteria for going out w/ the 26X): Swells= 4ft max Wind waves = 2 ft max Wind=16knots Yep, Ive been forever fair weather newbie sailor. Since the beam is same between 26x and M19, I figured M19 beam/length ratio makes it less susceptible to turn ...

M19 vs 26X In Rough Waters
I am considering downsizing from my 26X to an M19. Waters in my area can be rough. Can the 19 handle everything the 26 can, or does it need to stay on the trailer except for ideal conditions?
Thanks for inputs,

Re: Still have your factory trailer? Take a good look at it!
I wish I had read this 2 weeks ago. My 97 original trailer (2nd owner) snapped where the side beams weld to the tongue while pulling the X up the ramp (ballast full). I had the trailer refurbed 2 yrs ago but kept the tongue because it looked good and chunky. Shame on me, I do not inspect the bottom ...

Re: New Trailer Needed -- Help
Can anyone recommend an alternative to loadrite for folks in the west coast (San Fran)? My original mac 26X trailer (1997) broke while pulling boat up ramp w/ water ballast full. To my surprise, failure was in the hefty tube leading to the hitch, where the two side beams converge. It was also where ...

Re: NISSAN 50HP STARTING PROBLEM
UPDATE: I spoke with someone at the Belmont Boat center. His input was: when you run with tank vent closed, gas runs out, but oil keeps pumping and carb gets full of oil. then restarting becomes really tough. This explanation sounded like a perfect explanation, so I set out to drain the oil from the...

Re: NISSAN 50HP STARTING PROBLEM
Thanks for the feedback, guys. I have to admit, replacement w/ newer motor crossed my mind. Professional servicing probably in order. Battery is brand new west marine. Battery connection is flat connector on threaded stud with wing nut, clean. Also, about time I learned to start with rope crank. Goo...

Re: NISSAN 50HP STARTING PROBLEM
Hi jimmyt, Thanks for response. Yep, easy to reproduce. Starter cuts out in less than 1 sec if motor doesn't catch. If I dont forget the vent, motor starts no problem, after a few attempts. Starter still cuts off less than 1 sec in couple of attempts, but eventually motor catches. No deformation in ...

NISSAN 50HP STARTING PROBLEM
I have a 2-stroke nissan 50hp ob. On occasions I forget to open gas tank vent prior to starting it becomes hopeless to start same day, (ruins the week end). My non-mechanic brain thinks its some kind of vapor lock in the carb. Anyone know of a procedure to fix situation like this (and save the week ...

Re: Trailer Tire Models/Class ?
tlgibson97: looks like your trailer uses the 14" wheel. Our local dealer did say that most of the X's used this and only a few used the 15", mine being one of them. It's curious that you replaced with same size and still encountered the interference. Makes me think the Mac designers really...

Re: Trailer Tire Models/Class ?
I have 1997X w/ 205/75/15s. I need to replace due to cracks in sidewalls after several years sitting. Wheels have 6 lugs. Turns out this config is a pain in the neck to find. Im thinking, might as well upgrade to 225/75/15s. I've seen posts that people to this. My question is: does this switch requi...

CTR BOARD UP, RUDDERS DOWN
Does if make a difference which one comes up first, getting ready to do high speed motoring? I don't do this often, but for season end outing last week end, I was planning on getting some speed. after leaving the no-wake zone protected by breakwater, I slowed to nearly stop, then raised the ctr bd. ...

Re: CLEANING HULL BOTTOM
Well, the estimated 1 week repair on the trailer turned into 3. Since slip price for 3wks is same as per month, just kept boat in the water for the month. Pulled it out last Sunday, algae growth looked gross. Most of it came off w/ pressure wash, but still quite a few bits left, by the time it got d...

SHORE ELECTRICAL PLUG
All this time (when boat is in slip which is not that often), I've been using a cheap ($20 ACE hw) 20amp twist plug adapter w/ 15Amp outlet in other end. With pressure wahser plugged in, power quit after about an hr. Trouble shooting traced to open in one of the lines in teh adapter. Went to west ma...
