We've used the Garhauer Rigid Boom Vang since day one purchase in 2005. Would not sail without it.
Highly recommend.

We added shore power and upgraded the DC panel a long time ago.
100% worth the trouble.

Re: Winter Projects 2023-2024 -- Post Yours
Pro tip: Spray all connection with CRC battery terminal spray (red). The spray will capillary into the wires. After sitting the spay is very sticky like grease deep inside so it does not wash away. Zero issues since 2005. Including spade connections that got soaked in the bilge. Done this many times...

Re: Prospective X Purchaser
Can anyone give me a ballpark knot reading on this boat’s probable SOG running a Yamaha 50 iron jib - 17°pitch propeller- at WOT and likely fuel flow at that throttle angle? With and / or without full ballast? Also, what kind of unassisted, strictly sailing speeds am I likely to see with correctly ...

Re: Where are the "old guard" of this forum?
This old gaurd is sailing the York River today with my son and a friend. Beautiful no shirt weather.
All mods working including the Suzuki 90, Billy AC box, Pressurized Water, Shore Power and my Autopilot.
New sails, New trailer great!
Love our Mac 26X.

Re: Cabin Flooring?
Carpet also has the advantage of removing sand off your feet so it does not end up in bed.
No issues with carpet. Use the non-skid under it.
Replace when needed. We remove all cushions and carpet between sailing trips.

Re: Suzuki DF60AV or DF90A ?
Any prop repair shop can re-pitch your prop. Blue Ridge Propellers is still in business. The guy is a real artisan. https://www.brpdynamics.com/ Our boat is has been SUPER fun since we added the DF90A. Ask our kids or anyone that has done this if they would go back to a lower horsepower. Let us know...

Re: Battery maintenance on land
You will ruin your batteries if you don't keep them charged year round. Been through numerous batteries since 2005. Replace frequency way down since using a small solar panel with a solar regular over the last 10 years. Use two house batteries. More than enough CCA to start our Suzuki DF90A. Batteri...
