Re: V224 Mainsail

That is what I like hearing! I bought a set of V25 sails. The main is smaller and the jib larger. Thanks for the note.

Re: V224 Mainsail

Let's get a discussion on this. I notice that the V24 has a higher capsize ratio than later boats. It also has 50 extra square feet of mainsail? over the later boats?

I wonder how much the extra sail adds to the extra ratio? V 24 here.

Re: The Bomb exploded on my Motor (a bit long)

Checking for bad grounds. Check for solid wire grounds. They can crack (My 72 Pinto that had a solid wire on the vac advance.) How to check for continuity. Use a light bulb NOT an ohmmeter. An ohmmeter can show good continuity with almost no current whereas a 12 v source with a taillight bulb for a ...

The lost link might have been saved on the Way Back Machine. It's an internet archive. Just go to the wayback machine and type in the old url.

Different mast location V 24 vs. Mac 25?

I see that the jib is smaller and the main is larger on the V 24? I'm wondering if the difference is due to the mast being about one foot forward on the V 24.

Re: "Safety" cables - replace them with chains!

I did the same thing with the Boy Scout trailer many years ago except it rolled backwards and hit an Arrow storage building. Welcome to the club! A friend put the wheels on his boat trailer on backwards. He thought the lugs were "kind of cheap" since he only got one turn of the lug nut before...

Re: New to me boat

Firstly thanks for your sacrifices and happy late Veterans Day. Be sure you register with VA services too. Now for the boat. This is a great site and last December I started a site for the V 24 and 224's on Yahoo. I have tried to find all the good sites with info for these boat and am still adding. ...

Re: Keel Lock-down Bolt Hole Repair

I think I have the answer. Use a piece of plastic with mold release on it. Two holes in the center for a wire to go through it. Shove the plastic in the hole with wire or zip tie going through hole. Fasten the wire to a stick with a couple spacer blocks at the ends. Once the glass plug has set up, j...

Re: Styene thinner is nasty stuff

I discovered that the auto parts fiberglass catalyst works fine. I first epoxied about 200 chips in the topsides on the Rebel and sanded them down. I found that stabbing with a solder brush (Harbor Freight) kept the non skid textured. This was a crinkled non skid not the diamond pattern. I also disc...

Styene thinner is nasty stuff

I decided to do things the hard way on a small boat and apply new gelcoat. All is going well except that I opened the gelcoat inside the basement. The result was a spectacular headache for 3 days. Thank goodness I have a commercial spray booth fan that I used to air out the house for two days.

Re: Venture 25 with new Main and Genoa

Loyd, can you post the measurements of your sail? I have a V24 and the sails are supposed to be 25 vs 24 10 for your boat. Needless to say, I'm looking for a deal of V 24 sails.

Re: Keel question? Is it supposed to do this?

Search for "overkeel" on Google. He has photos of how he removed the keel. I read that you can support the rear of the boat with concrete blocks with the trailer tongue on the ground. Then jack up the front of the trailer and build a support with more blocks to support the bow. A couple of 2x8's? Th...

Re: Interior design??

There are more pics of the V25 interior on the net. Cabin is just a foot longer on same hull. The V24 "galley" was pretty basic. I started a V 24, 224 Yahoo group last Dec and it has a few pics. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Venture24/
