Furling direction discussion
My sailmaker pointed out that there is an outside and a inside to the jib/genoa. The sail should be rolled so that the leech has the smooth side out and the cut side in. He said the UV protection is only on the outside. My sail goe on clockwise and comes off counterclockwise.

Sea Sprite
I owned a Sea Raider but it sounds like this boat. 16' tri-hull with a Chrysler 75. Fast and stable but hard on the back when running in chop.

Racing
:D I have raced my X, the only sailboat owned. First I just comparitively raced, i.e. the other boats not aware of the race. Later, my first one-on-one race was with another X a 97. 26X PHRF
359 seems to be closer to a fair handicap than any lower #. I raced a D that made several more tacks than I going to weather and still was behind over 20 minutes after him giving me 143 seconds per mile in a 4.2 mile race. Having to use binoculars to watch the first place boat beat the second place ...

Old gas and putting oil in gas
Craig, Interested in your comment on putting oil in gas. I have the Nissan and have ran old gas after every Winter. What seems to be better when you add oil? Just have to comment on the 2 smoker. I have never owned anything more reliable. Eight years no problems. No water impeller, no tune-ups (exce...

Spreader Fatigue
Coming to this discussion late but have some history to relate. Two years ago(02) my 96X spreaders both broke from fatigue at the inboard end and fell off the mast, hanging from the shrouds as I lowered the mast at the end of a Lake Mead, NV 3 day sail trip. There were high winds during most of the ...
