Re: Steering wheel pedestal won't stand up

Hello,
IIRC someone posted a couple of years ago about the welds failing at the bottom of the pedestal tube. Required removing it and having it welded up. I think the poster changed the positioning.

Re: Tohatsu Control Lever fell off

Hello, When you say it won't run; 1. Does the starter crank but the engine won't run? OR 2. Does the starter not crank the engine? 1. In this case double check the kill switch on the back of the control (by ign switch). 2. In this case it's either the neutral safety switch or the cable adjustments /...

Re: Sail log

Hello, We keep a log every time we are on the boat. Have been doing so since before it was in our possession. We take turns at the end of the day each writing a page or so. Our perspectives are different and we write about different things that are important to us. It's important to capture the GPS ...

Re: Damage ? Or are the hulls that thin

Hello, Me thinks it's physics. The white parts of the boat are white because they are reflecting most of the light at all frequencies. Black is black because it absorbs most all light frequencies. Blue hulls are blue because blue wavelengths are reflected back to our eyes and the others are absorbed...

Re: Forward hatch seal on 26X

Hello, MacGregor used a standard seal available from companies that make all kinds of different seals. I chose a slightly different seal and installed it so it slides down into the run-off groove. It is attached further out on the hatch than the OEM seal. On my early X boat the fit of the hatch is n...

Yes, I replaced the helm with a U-Flex several seasons ago. Nice unit, fit perfectly.

Re: Bottom of my 2003 MacGregor 26M

Hello,
Me thinks the boat is rubbing the fender because the fender got bent inwards when that damage occurred on the outboard side.

FYI - This is a pic of the early (95) X brackets, they bent easily. The later aluminum brackets are thicker and the side gussets extend forward past the cutaway for the rudder.

Re: Be Careful at Mongold Launch Ramp at Detroit Lake, Orego

Hello,
I haven't been to Detroit Lake in 15 years and as I recall back then we ended up with a small branch hanging from the upper shrouds. I can only imagine how much further / bigger the trees have gotten since then.

Re: Trailer newbie questions...

bellevuesailor, Remember, when the owners manual says 5000 pound towing capacity, it means total weight of the trailer, boat, contents of the trunk of the car, combined total weight of the passengers, what's in the boat, etc. Now, that being said, I believe one of the moderators tows his :macx: wit...

Re: Water in cabin floor only when towing

Hello,
I forgot about the sink drains being underwater while heeled over. Definitely check those hoses and thru hulls.
