Interesting Journey

Greetings Mike.... I just got done reading this entire thread and peeking at your pictures... I noticed that your boat lettering looks similar to mine... :) I was facinated by your centerboard mod... I had been tinkering with the idea of adding wings to the centerboard but couldn't figure out someth...

Rounding Up

I used to own a Mac19 for about 8 years.

It would get into irons easily without the jib up.

It's bottom is more like a powerboat with the Vee Bottom, where as the 26X has more of a sailboat bottom.

winches in aft corners

The Aft Winches... yea I really needed that much room to add the block underneith the winch and bolt it on. I was hoping to avoid it... but it really needs to be done. Getting the foam floatation out and then back in was the really fun part. :? I do use the cars with them.

I Agree

I am Mad... :| I have no background whatsoever in engineering/physics... although I'm pretty sure I have a screw loose... (wife confirmed) :P I would agree that unless you like to do major modifications I would probably not do this one. The benefits may not outweigh the work involved. It does cut wa...

Sailboat History

http://www.always-online.com/hardtlefamily/images/sailhistory10.jpg I don't recall exactly how I found out about the Mac 19... some local boat show I think back in 1993... I just remember we bought it from just looking at the Sales Brochure. After we sold our 1965 19' O'day Mariner, we found a deal...

Navy Anchor

Always wanting to just be a little different... I have always used a Navy type anchor on all my sailboats... I have a 15 and 20 pound on board... I have found that they work everywhere and they fit in the anchor locker easily. Heck the weight alone helps in the strong current areas I anchor in. http...

Machine Shop

Yea I had that happen too... I always raise and lower my mast with the boom and sail on... so I went to my local welding shop after it broke and had them extend that piece and make it stronger... haven't had any problems after that.

Boom on mast storage

I keep my boom with sail and cover attached to the mast. http://www.always-online.com/hardtlefamily/KnotShorePics/boomlowered.jpg I usually raise and lower the mast with the boom attached. I had a custom sail cover made from www.TrailerSailor.com that added zippers to the bottom to have a place to s...

Power boat

Before I got my X I had a 20 ft ski boat with an Inboard/Outboard... it steered badly at slow speeds. I find that the X does better with the rudders down... as does anyboat that has rudder.
