Re: Stereo Recommendations

We had the Clarion CMD5 Marine Receiver installed by the dealer. He installed the 2 6.5" speakers on either side of the comanionway in the cckpit the same as Rays. I also installed 2 Klipsch AW-400 Outdoor speakers inside the cockpit on either side of the door mounted just below the mirrors. The sou...

Re: Docking the 26M

I probably sail single handed 75% of the time, so it's easier for me to "go it alone". We've ended up with boat drifting near sideways in the slip when the Admiral attempts to lend a hand. Her sole responsibility now is to ensure I didn't leave the Suzy in Reverse. (we've ended up back in the fairwa...

Re: Summer over - Tacking Practice - and of course PROBLEMS

Bob , "Release your mainsheet and loose the vang". Your sail will glide to the top of the mast. I had the same issue this year and I almost pulled the block out while tugging on the halyard. I actually tried to use both winches to get the job done. I returned to my slip did a quick search on these p...

Re: bbq mount location

The West Marine BBQ needs 2 attachment points so it won't work on a vertical stanchion. Would work on a horizontal between the mast carrier, but then I'm cooking over the Otbd. I made a stand attchment so that we can use it on shore, but when anchored, the bow works fine.

Re: bbq mount location

I have the West Marine BBQ. We mount it on the bow rail for use and then store it when not in use. I am reluctant to cook in close proximity to my gas tanks, and the Bow keeps smoke out of the cabin. Only takes a few minutes to set up.

Re: Battery group 24? 27? deep cell?

Matt, I also have a 2007 M with a DF70. My electrical use is similar although I do not use a knotmeter. As others have already noted the group 27's won't fit in the M battery location and even your DF70 won't require a starting battery. I went with 2 identical GRp 24 AGM batteries. Deka 79 ahrs each...

Re: Hunters Version of the Mac26

Hunter = Lexus ???? They sell a lot of boats but probably closer to a Ford Taurus in Quality Level! I'd reserve the "Lexus" comparison for Jeanneau, Gozzard, etc.... I think Hunter missed the mark by almost doubling the weight over the :macm: They probably didn't anticipate $4 gas, but I'd think a f...

Re: Change both Batteries or only One?

March, I'm not familar with your combiner but it may be working fine. I suspect that by routinely discharging below 50% you've greatly reduced the life of the battery. At 80% discharge you'll cut the life in half vs. 50% . Still I'm surprised that your having problems after only 1 year. I'd think th...

Re: Change both Batteries or only One?

Frank, I work in the Domestic Automotive business, I havn't looked at a consumer report for 30 years, can I assume their claims were based on wet cell batteries only?

Re: ladder 26m

Terry, is the Genny track really stong enough to support a side ladder?? I thought about modifying a standard boarding ladder to attach to the tracks but I decided it probably wasn't strong enough. Am I too cautious????

Re: time required from trailer to sailing

I think I agree with most, in the 1 hour to 90 min time frame, all on dry land before launching. Certainly no where near half the day.

Search the forum and you'll find many great tips.

Why do you disconect the Jib sheet?

Re: Change both Batteries or only One?

James , the answer depends on your set up. Mine for example, utilizes a combiner with house hooked to charger and motor hooked to alt. When combined either source charges both. If the house battery was low, ( a setting you can control) the shore power would only charge the house battery, until it re...

Re: What mods are a must have and what factory mods can be left

Lots of reasons to not use roller furling, Cost, Sailing performance etc.... I don't agree ease of trailering is one them. Search the archive and you'll find many excellent methods for supporting / rigging the furler for trailer. IMHO, not even close to being a problem. I can't imagine buying a MAC ...

Re: Bill's EZ Cleats

Kevin, Don't know about the EZ cleats but Kelley Hansen caries the Garhauer Swivel Cam Cleats. KH I've had them for two seasons and I love them. Maybe someone here has had both and can tell us the difference in the Garhauer vs. EZ cleat.
