They tried this before a few years back and had to give it up. Re: Towing my inflatable tender - concerned about the prop

...I tried towing my tender for the first time yesterday. I decided to tether it to the side of the boat with a couple of lines. It was as far back as I could get it without it being able to interfere with the sb rudder or obm.... http://1fatgmc.com/boat/mac-1/2015%20Bahamas/2-Bahamas-4/05-29-15-Ma...

Re: Mac 26M Boat lift/floating dock

are you looking for something, thats easy to launch from whenever you want to use the boat, or are you looking for someway to get it out of the water for the off season? My guess would be to get the boat out of the water anytime it isn't in use to keep the barnacle growth down. They grow fast down ...

Re: 26S Radio Installation

Thanks, Sumner. That's very similar to what I had in mind, except that I was planning to pierce the deck on the center line, just aft of the mast. What was the advantage of putting it beside the mast? Another difference is that I was going to put a bulkhead connector through the deck, with a connec...

Re: Towing my inflatable tender - concerned about the prop

We used floating line at first but still had problems with the dinghy floating all over the place at times. http://purplesagetradingpost.com/sumner/macgregor/06-31-09-21-TowBar.jpg So since almost the beginning we use the boarding ladder as a tow bar and it has worked great over hundreds of miles in...

Re: 26S Radio Installation

I now have the radio mounted inside the cabin and have nearly finished the antenna mount at the top of the mast. But I'm still not sure how I'm going to run the cable into the cabin. What have other people done? My original idea was to put a bulkhead connector through the roof of the cabin right un...

Re: Three bank battery questions

Thanks, Sum. I already have the straps and trays for 12 volt batteries, so switching to six volt banks in series would require some redesigning. I still don't understand the advantage of having the house battery charged directly from the engine, as you suggested: wouldn't that turn the house batter...

Re: Three bank battery questions

If the batteries are all the same and about the same age I'm with Richard in that I'd put them all in one bank. You won't discharge them as much so they will last longer and will also recharge better. If one really doesn't want to go that way at least put the two house batteries in one bank and run ...

Re: 1978 Venture 25 Project

I get all my wiring for both boats from here.... http://www.genuinedealz.com/marine-wire?p=2&size=51 Good prices, tinned wire and the freight costs are minimal. I'd go with at least 16 gauge just for the strength factor. The three wire would take care of most situations. I ran two separate wires...

Re: wht y'all think

.... on really big boats it's nice .. I've been on some center cockpit boats in the yard where we have the Endeavour. I wouldn't want a center cockpit boat that was less than 37 foot and even those I wasn't in love with in most cases. It looks good on paper but it breaks the boat up a lot and you e...

Re: Shroud Tension and Tuning...so much confusion

On the S and D the forestay is tensioned against the shrouds and the backstay can be snug or you can tighten it if you need to in some situations. I never have. My understanding is that it mainly helps to support the mast running and for tuning the mast bend. I changed the forestay on our S to 5/32n...

Re: 26S Radio Installation

...Sumner: Ordinarily, I wouldn't worry about flipping the antenna around. But the only place I can park the boat is right in front of my garage and I need to get it as far back as possible to leave room for the cars in front.
