Adding weight to a V21 swing keel?

Post by Sailsa_Verde »

I’m wondering if anyone has added weight to the V21 swing keel (with lead bulb)? I’ve searched a bit here and there finding mixed results. I’m about to start rebuilding the keel due to cracking and what not, so now is the time.

I dont think adding a bit of weight would hurt. I completely replaced the keel in my V222 with a steel keel from a different boat. The one I found is around 100 pounds heavier than the original specs.

WHY?
KEEL IS PLENTY HEAVY
WHY STRESS YOUR BOLT/TUNNEL MORE ?

SHAVED ABOUT 100 OFF AND NO PROBLEMS IN SEAS TOO LARGE FOR A VENTURE

DO COAT IN OSPHO AND EPOXY THO
