I am afraid you are right. I am spending WAY too much money getting my :mac19: updated.

I have a new 40 hp motor on the way. In the process of finding a small console for wheel steering.

I drew the line at 10k for a carbon mast.

It is probably going to cost me more getting this :mac19: right than what they would charge for the :tat22: IF it ever gets made.

My :mac19: is almost ready for the unveiling.

Tomorrow I take it from the fiberglass shop to the motor installer. Console is installed. Motor bracket installed to get it back from the transom.

I will post pictures once the motor is on there, hopefully in a week or two.

My plan is to use the motor to steer. I was thinking of being able to add something to the skeg that would extend about a foot below the motor to work as a more effective rudder. Any ideas?

I am doing all this in the hopes that production will soon begin on the :tat22:
That is how my luck goes. I will have the coolest :mac19: ever 8) Then the :tat22: I really wanted will go on sale

I would concentrate on the 19 and put the 22 out of your head. Sounds like the 19 is coming along great! Can't wait to see pics!

I officially have the coolest :mac19: on the planet.

I was able to obtain one of the last evinrude 40 hp made and put it on the back with a small console and wheel steering. It runs so good I will be taking her deep sea fishing in the gulf when it warms back up.

Oh and check out the go anywhere fast trailer I got a while back. ( I would still love a :tat22: though )

Nice aft - I took my Miamistyle up to North Fl almost 20 years ago. I live in a small town about an hours drive from Stienhatchee. If you have never been to Stienhatchee, there is a long channel to get out into deep water. It used to take me an hour each way when I had a Mac Classic. I won't have that problem anymore. 8)

Boat - I agree with you when it comes to motoring, the 19 is a real tough boat, it doesn't sail too well, especially into the wind. That's why I think a retractable keel with a heavy bulb (like they were planing on the :tat22: ) would have kept the motor performance of the :mac19: but actually allow you to sail into the wind.

:D Its been about 2 years since i last visited this site.

Always good to see familiar names.

Just curious if anything new about the 22. :tat22:
23 July 2022..
Another 2 years goes by like nothing happening in my world without my Mac 26X.
Obvious nothing new about the 22.
Always comforting to see familiar names even though I never met any of you guys in person.

Unfortunately, the Tattoo project appears dead.

About five years ago, Laura went before the county and the local powers of Ft. Pierce to seek approval to build boats there.

She was met with open arms. They even had a location selected to lease.

Since then, she and her husband moved south to Palm Beach and there hasn't been a peep since.

I applaud them for wanting to build in the U.S. However, they should have been looking for an offshore partner with lower labor costs from the start.

We all love American-made products, however, not many are ready to step up and pay the premium.

Just like new sails. There is a reason 95% are built offshore.
