Re: HOW FAST IS YOUR MAC ?
Pretty good speed considering I have a very heavily loaded boat setup for extended cruising with my family on board. In general I never run WOT with ballast. If I want to go fast or far under power I always dump any ballast. I take her up to around 4,500 RPM, this gets me in the mid 14 knots for speed with a nice high bow, when the speed peaks out in the upper 16's I know the tank is empty.irayone wrote:Just want to get an idea of how fast your boats are ???

Re: HOW FAST IS YOUR MAC ?
I've had our M at least to 75 mph on my first trip up I-15 from So Cal.
It was uphill to!
Handled well as I recall.
RPM's about 3400, downshifted to fourth gear.

Re: HOW FAST IS YOUR MAC ?
hardcrab, hope you have your boat strapped down. 1st time driving truck/boat (17' Glaspar with 90Merc) on the Cariboo hiway in BC just south of 100 mile house and dad was asleep,I'm 15 so had it up to 70+ mph not kph and boat was loaded with gear and when I looked in mirror it was floating above the trailer, swaying side to side. We forgot to strap it down and I got it slowed and pulled over before anything happened. If you don't have one, buy a strap. It might save you a big headache in future.

One bit of information missing that would be relevant:
10. DEGREE OF ENHANCEMENTS / GEAR (Pick one):
(a) Stock boat, with no little to no major enhancements and minimal gear.
(b) Relatively stock boat with some enhancements (some elecronics, a stove, etc.) and gear.
(c) Moderately enhanced boat with more comprehensive gear.
(d) Significantly enhanced boat with alot of gear. -> D
FWIW my 26X is equipped for longer term cruising (even liveaboard) with alot of gear, and inspected/certified to Finnish class 2 (coastal) level, with lots of required safety gear, plus lots of convenience enhancements such as chartplotter, autopilot, two VHF, stereo, stove, fridge, paraffin heater, running water, builtin water tank, 24gal fuel tanks, 220AH AGM house bank, shorepower, etc. so I'm glad to still be able to hit 15 knots just by my lonesome -- though I almost never run at WOT, tending to mostly sail or motorsail.
So a realistic comparison would need to take into consideration how much extra a given boat has (I dimly recall the day when my X was stock and the kids wakeboarded behind it... alas, no more... I wonder if we need a MMI formula (Mac Mass Index, a'la BMI, Body Mass Index) to guage how much "extra" our boats have

Like Duane, I never run more than hull speed with the ballast full. My boat has lots of added weight with mods and equipment for long cruises. I'll have to verify my two prop's pitches cuz' it's been a while since I looked at them.

Suzuki manual says correct prop size for a given hull should result in 5700 rpm on the DF 70, but I can't get that with this BWY selected prop. Maybe I could with less load & balast.
