Got a couple of projects from Santa - Spinnaker hound and a steering disconnect kit. Looking forward to getting them installed soon.

Yea, BWY disconnect is a MUST.

I added a remote stick, so I do not have to bring my face down and my a$$ up :D

Worked fine for 2 years no.

One of the best mods I made to my 26M. It will greatly reduce the stress on the steering system and improve boat handling.

Install was easy, but need to do a final alignment between rudders and outboard. Also, looks like the "fixed" position bracket won't result in the outboard being straight ahead. May have to either redrill the mounting hole or rework the bracket. I will evaluate this further after I get the alignment completed.

Looking forward to sailing without the outboard load on the helm.

Thanks for the feedback.

It is a must. Should have been OEM.

Okay Kurz, you have me very interested. What is that made out of? Can you provide more details?

Well, first I made a stick with wood. Just to check it out. I realized that the idea works. But the material wood changes when it is hot or dry. So I could find a plastic material, maybe it is pvc.
I just cut it out. Squeezed it on the motor disconnect. Ready to go.

I use the motor disconnect often as I use the AP only when the motor is not connected. So it is so much more easyer not to go down. And for the ballast valve there is another stick going up, so it MUCH more confortable to handle.

Does it stay attached well? I like this idea. Any problems using it?

Yes it works very well! Would never miss it anymore!!! So much more confort in the cockpit!

From time to time you have to control the place where it sits. So just move it to the right place when needed. And retighten it.

And all time you can move it a little. It does not stay as fixed als welded.

Hat no problem so far. Never opened the motor disconnect or so.

Excellent!

I will try to fabricate one. This would save a lot of bending over. Admiral fears the seat hitting me in the head everytime I move the bracket.

I have a heavy bungee cord attached to two eye straps under my helm seat, and unhook the end near the hinge and clip it to the life line or bimini frame to keep it tight to the frame in rough conditions. Been clunked on the head too many times as it is, and it's taking a toll on the seat so I had to take steps to arrest the damage potential. :|

I have a similar thing. I think BWY added this to the boat because it's one of those things that should just come with the boat. They add a lot of "should be standard" items to their boats.
Short line with a clip to attach to the lifeline to hold the seat up.

Admiral gets mad at me when I don't use it.

I'm going to try to fabricate Kurz's mod.
