Hi all,
I'm curious, are there many MacGregors in the Cape Cod or NH lakes region?
My wife & I have been sailing for 30 years but recently came to the conclusion we are "aging out" of our much loved Rhodes 19. We are seriously considering a MacGregor 26, either new or "experienced" if one can be found within a reasonable distance.
How suitable is the Mac for typical Nantucket Sound conditions? Our anchorage/slip is Harwich, MA. Obviously, we have been day-sailing almost exclusively (we've also done some Caribbean charters), but would like to realistically be able to do some "local" cruising - Nantucket, Provincetown, maybe Boston, etc.
Thanks,
Ron

There are a number of members in your area, Ron. I'm sure that some of them will check in with you. In the meantime, check out the North East Trailer Sailors website and forum.

yes we have 120 or so members in the North East Trailer Sailors club http://www.ne-ts.com. We are a very active group with many rendezvous and parties throughout the year. Most of our members have some variety of Magregor (as well as many other boats as well) . Also check out our for-sale section of local boats on the website.

Ron - compared to your Rhodes a Mac will be a sluggish sailor and wont point as well...but it is an excellent cruiser for the Cape...my favourite venues are Cuttyhunk, Woods Hole, Barnstable, MV. You can gunkhole easily with the shallow draft keel of course.

Ron-
There are several Macs in NH that I know of & likely many more that I don't. I'm usually on Winnipesaukee, launching in Wolfeboro, and spend time on the ocean as well - Maine & Mass. There are several sailing stories & rendezvous reports of the New England waters on the NE-TS website. This coming weekend is a Naragansett Bay trip.
