Ruth and I got the tour.....thanks Mike :!: It was well worth it even though we have an S and will probably never get an M. I took lots of pictures and was going to post some, but haven't done it :( . If any of you are in that area I'd recommend trying to get in contact with Mike and take him up on his offer.

Mike I'd post your request on the other 2 Mac boards as there are a lot more S and D owners on them...

http://bbs.trailersailor.com/forums/macgregor/index.cgi

http://forums.macgregor.sailboatowners. ... y.php?f=68

I posted a link on the boards to this thread, but maybe a personal plea would help.

Good luck and can't wait to see picture and specs and such on the 70,

I just called to check this out. If it is for real, I might be able to assist with my 1988 26D.
I am waiting on a return call.

Thanks Bob. Hi all. Bob is bringing his 26D down to us from Lancaster and we'll sand and buff the exterior like new for the loan. So, don't need any other boats. Quick acting website!

Gary I think you might be just a little bit paranoid, but I wonder too why they didn't just call a local broker that had one sitting on the lot. :?: I would think they would have been glad to work a deal. I know my local broker had one a while back and I'm in the middle of the corn belt not sunny California. :D

On the other hand, it can't hurt to get the boat owners involved. I think it's great that Mike is a poster on the forum. Makes me feel like I have an inside connection if I ever need one. Good PR.

Paranoid is wearing a tin foil hat. lol

Remember, Mike is not Roger. Anyone really think the conductor is driving the train?

As a businessman, Roger is not looking back, he is looking forward. Testing is NOT something you do publicly. Testing is something the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing.

Broker? If Ford wanted to test an old model, they would contact a used car dealer?

In business, you already have all the contacts you need. All the brass at MacGregor have friends, contacts, relatives that own the 26D a thousand times over, in the contacts of their smart phones.

Like I have already stated, Mac is on the build of a new sailboat. I have no doubt. To pull off the cash to build a 70, he needs people purchasing smaller boats. A new boat for the 99% will finance the boat for the 1%. In business, that is how it works.

Hello to all,

Thanks for all of your concerns.

I talked with Mike and I feel that this will be a good venture to undertake.
My 1988 MacGregor 26D is a stock boat with only RudderCraft mod and is very fast and stable.
She has some stress cracks and could use a good buff and wax. Besides, I can go sailing when I am down there.

Ok I'll put up $100.00 that says you are wrong. The only new boat from them for some time will be the 70 and not a smaller boat. I"ll take Mike for his word on that.

So if by this time next year, let's say Jan 1,2013, if they have announced a new boat other than the 70 that is on the market or going to be on the market I'll donate $100.00 to this site. Now if there is no new boat in the works or on the market you will donate $100.00 to this site.

Game??
