Boom on mast storage

Post by Erik Hardtle »

I keep my boom with sail and cover attached to the mast.

I usually raise and lower the mast with the boom attached. I had a custom sail cover made from www.TrailerSailor.com that added zippers to the bottom to have a place to stuff the boom vang and main sheet.

Make sure you have a gooseneck connection to the mast... some older X's don't. For trips over 100 miles I usually just take the boom off and leave the sail in the cover and store it below.

Erik,
You've done some very nice stuff there ! B :macm: et you've had great fun. Really like those pinned spreader bars, but thinking they might be a bit more difficult for the M rotating mast - single piece speader (I think) bent around the mast.

Liked your ideas anyway. Now I've got even more things to put on the TO DO list.
