Tell-tales

Post by Curwen »

Hello,

My mainsail is lacking tell-tales. How many should I have on the main and where is the proper placement?

Thanks,

Curwen

My main has 3 and they are approx. At 25, 50 and 75% of the luff. But I'm no sailmaker and can barely call myself a sailor :)

I have four on mine, but three is good too. Four let's me rationalize when I have 3 of the 4 trailing.

They need to be on the leach. Anything forward of that is affected by the foresail and not always a good indicator.

I have one at each batten, at the leach.
