A Tribute to James Doohan...AKA...Scotty.

Post by richandlori »

Being a big Star Trek fan, yesterday was a hard day with the passing of one of the greatest. I grew up watching Star Trek on Saturday mornings instead of cartoons, yes I was a strange lad. I had the oportunity to meet James Doohan at a Star Trek convention in Pasadina, Ca. I also found a fellow Star Trek fan at Channel Islands Harbor.

He spent the last 5 years batteling health problems, Scotty will no longer have to "hold her together"....

Star Trek was a great TV phenomenon that had a major impact on people's imaginations. It would be hard to say how many innovations were stimulated by Trek.

Now I have a mental image of Rich when he was a young boy, wearing Spock ears at Trekkie conventions.

Having been an avid Corvette owner for many years, Vette drivers used to give a little wave to other Vette owners when they saw each other. Kind of an index finger raised while gripping the steering wheel. A brotherhood thing.

Maybe in honor of Star Trek, we need to adopt a wave when 2 Mac helmsmen pass each other:
