I have a 2002 :macx: we rarely use the motor. The other day we were motoring and the motor went from being fairly loud to a nice smooth purr. Has anybody experienced this change in noise levels while motoring?
Thanks in advance.
went to Catalina first time out of the Sound. What a nice sail from long Beach to the island. Saw a beautiful :macm: the blue really stands out.

I was docking last night and went past a blue :macm:. My son and I both agreed that the blue M was much prettier than our white X. :o

I'm having the time of my life in this white clorox bottle! 8) Nothing better than zooming under power a fair distance back to our anchorage on a windless sunset after having a nice dinner. (Sure beats them ol' displacers in that respect!) Then spending the time looking at the stars and sleeping out in the cockpit.

I like waking up in the morning and just taking it all in. I can hear the bustle of the city but it seem so tranquil away from it all out on the water. Even the city is pretty from the water's perspective. Its a little odd thinking about what the skyline looked like 30 years compared to today. Gives me some perspective on how long I've been around. :P

Ah! but there is a downside. A duck took a crap in my dinghy! :x

I've experienced something similar when the automatic choke releases. The boat actually surges forward when this happens. Does this "sound" like your situation?

If one of your cylinders was missing, it might make a deep loud noise when you widely open the throttle. If the cylinder started firing again, the sound would become smoother and less loud. You would also notice a surge in power making the boat go faster. Many times, the cause of this is a fouled spark plug.

Mark, you caught me off guard with that one. :D

I took her out again and she continues to run smooth and soft. No power surges. She's just running better then in the past 2 years. I had the motor serviced one time because we rarely power. Well thank you all for the input and I'm sure you'll hear more from me in the future. :macx:
