I'm located in Albany, GA. About 3.5 hours away from JAX.

I've sailed around St. Marys, Cumberland Island, etc, but never made it down to Jax. Hope I'm able to make it.

Sounds like the group is leaning towards a route similar to what happened on the first JMGT in 2009...

Friday night beached at Little Talbot Island State Park about 5 miles north of Sisters Creek Marina/Ramp (called the Jim King Boat Ramp but not named for me...just a cool coincidence) just off the ICW. Cookout on the beach then spend the night.

Saturday exit the ICW and the St. John's River and enter the Atlantic. Sail south for about 30 miles to St. Augustine and spend the night at a marina and find a restaurant.

Sunday sail and/or motor up the ICW back to the St. John's River. For those that can continue we will press into downtown Jacksonville and spend the night at Jacksonville Landing and eat at one of the many restuarants and maybe watch the band in the courtyard. For those that can't continue they can return to Sisters Creek Marina/Ramp.

Monday back to Sisters Creek or wherever your vehicle/trailer is parked or your home marina for the locals.

There are some weather options: stay in the ICW if the weather off-shore is iffy. Go north towards Fernandina Beach if the winds/weather is better that way. Or head south from Jacksonville on the mighty St. John's River if the weather is better that way.

At this point, we are planning on putting in at sisters creek either Thursday afternoon or Friday morning--depending on our meandering in route to Florida!

Please continue to act as the PR rep for the group, thank you for stepping up. I am changing jobs, possibly relocating (again) and have had no time to put towards the website. Your itinerary sounds spot on. Please keep teasing the board with the pics.
I am hoping to be in town on the 31st and will be staying until the 7th, so if anyone wants to extend their weekend PM me and we can discuss the details. The St. Johns is an adventure in itself and is well worth the time.

Checked with the Admiral and it looks like we will be joining! (barring any hurricane traveling up the coast... I work at a TV station so it is all hands on deck when one comes barrelling into the coast like last year)

Will be traveling on Thursday, in the water Friday thru Monday, traveling back on Tuesday.

I may be bringing a convoy of mac's from NC....

We will need a final head count ASAP in order to reserve slips/moorings for the weekend. St. Augustine recently comandiered the mooring fields north and south the Lions Bridge and designated them as part of a pilot program that restricts transients from mooring. They have installed a large number of moorings and now invite cruisers to pay for what was one free (hooray big gov't). City installed moorings can be rented for the night, slips are available and there are several private marinas located in the area.

Mark coordinated our stay at the Oyster Creek Marina during the 2009 JMGT and negotiated us a fairly good deal. There was plenty of space and the marina facilites and staff were excellent. The facility has changed hands and is now called The Rivers Edge Marina, if we decide to go that route hopefully we can secure the same great deal.

If we travel north to Fernandina slips will need to be reserved but the moorings are on a first come first serve basis.

Downtown Jacksonville has a free 78 slip marina that never gets full and has water and electric ($9) with a free pump out.

PM me with your itinerary and I'll start to set things up.

You all from NC must be Light winded, pic. shows all with 150 Genoa and full Main.
I probably go with the 150 in summer in SW Florida, hate to get in a tunderstorm like I did July 4th this year and packing 60-70 mph winds.
Actually I am ready to change out the working 105 jib to a 150 genoa.

Don't remember where you said you were coming from but as you get to Jacksonville on I-95 (from either the North or South) take the new highway bypass loop around to the East otherwise known as Hwy 9A. Get off on Hecksher Drive also known as Hwy 105. Go East about 7 miles. You can't miss it.

If coming in on I-10 from the West go North on I-295 which turns into the Bypass Loop Hwy 9A as you cross I-95 North of Jacksonville.

It is on the North side of the St. John's River about 5 miles in from the Atlantic right at the intersection of the ICW.

And of course you can google it.

As for your motor...don't worry...there will be a couple of Blue hulls out there envious as you blast past them...

If you can go hull speed you will be okay.

For those travelers coming from south of Jacksonville I would suggest the Mayport public boat ramp. It is about 1 mile south east of the Sisters Creek Ramp (on the opposite of the St. Johns) and will help shorten your drive by 45 minutes to an hour.

Dave, I've only got a 30hp pushing me along so don't worry you'll have plenty of company.

The Jacksonville MacGregor Owners Group website has been updated with all of the information concerning this years meet up. I am not a web design kind of guy so it's pretty basic but it should help out with most of your questions. If you need further information please PM.

I am still tweeking things on the site so check back often.

I have spoken with the St. Augustine municipal marina and have been advised to get an accurate head count as soon as possible. This is a top notch facility with a great location, book early. The JMOG website has a link to the marinas website.

If you have any questions, comments complaints or concerns please contact me ASAP.

This year is going to be a blast.
