This isn't your typical Macgregor 26M. Acquired in 2020, this boat has been heavily upgraded and maintained for long-distance cruising with a family of five. It's set up for comfort and ease of handling, making it a perfect intro sailboat with very low operating costs and a lot of marina choices. There's no need to wait for a slip; you can be on the water this season. We've created great memories on this boat, including week-long trips to Georgian Bay and the Rideau Waterway, and have cruised both sides of the Ottawa River from end to end, sometimes covering 200 nautical miles per trip. Now, it's time to sell and buy a bigger boat for cruising the Caribbean. We chose the Macgregor 5 years ago to get as many sailing miles as possible on the lowest budget possible. Because you need 12 inches of water to launch, I was able to launch pretty much anywhere with my minivan. With a Mac, you won’t need to get on a waiting list for a slip. In 2024, we kept the boat at Lac Deschènes Yacht Club on a mooring for the summer, it cost us less than 1000$ in club and mooring fees for the summer. This year, I’m working at Britannia Yacht Club part time and they let me keep the boat on the hard. It’s called dry sailing. Everything is set up and ready to go, within 15 minutes, I’ve hitched the trailer, gone down the ramp, launched and left the harbor. Retrieving is just as easy.
