Re: Repairing locker hinge fiberglass cracks

Worked like a champ. Used a piece of aluminum from Lowe's (couldn't find SS) + Gorilla Glue + New SS screws 3M marine Adhesive Sealant 5200 for the cracks.

Thanks

Re: Repairing locker hinge fiberglass cracks

I will shop around and find some SS and epoxy it on as backing then fill the cracks with resin then paint. I think it should work well.

Thanks for the good ideas.

Repairing locker hinge fiberglass cracks

Does anyone know a way to repair the fiberglass cracks around the locker hinges? I was thinking of getting some clear resin and just build it up with fiber on the bottom side to strengthen it. If someone has done this let me know plz.

Re: Beaching as an Art Form

I think we would fall under this code or this is the one I would exercise in a court case. Good to know the US code now. (f) A vessel of less than 12 meters (39.37 foot) in length, when aground, shall not be required to exhibit the lights or shapes prescribed in subparagraphs (d)(i) and (ii) of this...

Re: Beaching as an Art Form

Do you turn your mast light on when you beach your boat? Just wondering, sometimes I do in case some fisherman comes by at night.

Mast up storage gulf coast AL

I am looking for a mast up on trailer storage facility somewhere around Mobile Bay. I am not typing something correctly on my online searches or they don't exist here. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: cooking while living aboard

I bought a 6 qt pressure cooker and cooked 7 potatoes in 6 min. Time is after water started to boil and they were cooked perfectly with 1/2 cup of H20. Definitely going to be part of boat inventory.

Re: Parachute for a boat cover over winter

It's silk great shape makes a great trampoline cover purchased for around $50. Water does go through but not concerned about snow since I live in the south.

Parachute for a boat cover over winter

Has anyone tried covering their boat with a parachute? I have a 35 foot parachute and was wondering if that would do a good job keeping leaves and dirt out. I figure it will not damage the gel coat since it is a softer material than a tarp.

Re: Sea Worthy? Ideas and thoughts

Here is a bloke going around the world in a 19 footer http://www.meder.hu I think I would rather go in a Mac than his boat. True his boat has a fixed keel but not much and the water line is looks a little over a foot to his deck. I think his rigging is a little weak too.

Hunter site says headroom is 5'10 but looks tight to me.

Looks like they copied the Macgregor fuel storage. The retractable rudder must be under the Captain's seat.

Extended Sail Freezer question

Quick question for you peeps that have an Engel refrigerator/freezer. Is it possible to have water (milk) jugs and a seven day cooler and freeze water jugs in freezer and just swap them out in the cooler when they melt every couple of days? Or will this burn more juice than it is worth? ie. Have fou...
