Re: where not to buy
My wife and I bought our boat from Mike Inmon in 2008. We live in Washington state and Mike personally delivered the boat to us maybe he will deliver yours to the Islands.
Check him out, he's great.

Re: Boat winter cover
Here in NW Washington state I use two tarps to cover my 26M. I purchased them at COSTCO cheap. I connect the two together and lay PVC pipe in an X pattern to help support the load of snow and promote runoff rather than accumulation of snow. Also don't forget to winterize the engine. :macm: http://i5...

Neutral safety switch in steering pedestal
My 2008 26M with evinrude 60 hp engine refused to start. I took it to the dealer and they could only start it by jumping wires on the engine. After it started we were able to start it with the key. The dealer suggested it might be the neutral safety switch. Has anyone else experienced this type of p...

Evinrude E-TEC 60 oil
I have the Evinrude E-TEC60 engine which comes programmed for the XD-50 oil but the local dealer said I should switch to the XD100 and have the engine re-programmed saying that while the XD100 is more expensive I will get better gas mileage, the engine will run smoother, and won't produce as much sm...

Second anchor questions
I’m planning on buying a second anchor for my 26M but not sure what would be best for the San Juan Islands here in the NorthWest. I have the standard Danforth that came with the boat and it fits nicely in the anchor well. Can anyone give advise on there experience? What works well? Where is the seco...

Safety recall notice Evinrude E-TEC
I received a safety recall notice for my 2008 26M with a 60 hp Evinrude E-TEC. The vapor separator needle valve needed replacement. I took it to West Coast Marine for service. Just an FYI for anyone with a 2008-2010 40-65 HP outboard. The notice stated "could result in a fire or explosion".

Trailer jack
I had to replace my trailer jack. A brand new 26M boat and trailer delivered July 2008 and after one short season the jack seized. I replaced it with a Fulton 1500 which can be removed for repair/maintenance/replacement unlike the welded useless jack that is now on the trailer. Also I had to replace...

Sailing in the northwest
Thursday May 21, 2009 looks like a good day to go sailing in the northwest. We plan to take our 26M out for a first-of-the-year shakedown cruise. See you on the water. Now where is that checklist……

Re: Cold weather and my engine
I would follow the engine manual for winterization. At the very least you should buy 2-4 cyc fuel conditioner, mix it with your gas, connect a hose to the engine, and run the engine for 5-10 minutes. The fuel conditioner should coat and provide protection during the winter. Also make sure the water ...

Re: Noob: Any North/central Puget Sound Winter sailors?
Welcome to the NorthWest sailing. Here is some additional information if you want to play with the boat in the driveway. Things you can do in the driveway: 1. Make sure the water ballast is empty. Use a stick to check and see if any water is in the ballast tank. Check under the forward sleeping area...

Re: solo sailing and setting the main
I should have stated that I trailer the boat, so I'm putting up the mast each time I sail and attaching the main sail. I tried to heave to, but it didn't seem to work, thats why I thought the boat sitting high in the water was overriding the jenny set at heave to. I'll give it another go next sailin...
