Re: Gentlemen i need ur help
Hi Dennis I'm in Buffalo and would like to help but my boat is put away for the year. It's locked in a farmers barn and hard to get at over the winter. The closest dealer to us to see a boat is Dowser Marine in Hamilton, Ontario. They have a boat in their showroom. If your married I would take your ...

Re: Tension of the shrouds
The question is how does it sail now? I have both set at 25 on the loos and that seems perfect. I've tried tighter and had problems pointing. The mast always rotated no matter how much tension I had but I do use a boom vang so maybe that helps. I would try different tensions to see what you like. Ju...

Re: Already lost half my summer
Thanks for all the input .I do have the set up for the furler drum support already but finds it adds alot of time to the set up and break down. I previously had a venture 25 without a furler and I could set it up myself in about 35 minutes myself without a mast raising system and pack the boat away ...

Already lost half my summer
I'm going for 8-10 weeks of out of town training for work starting late April. Then I have a wedding/trip planned for early July, so half my summer is shot. Again :x Now what. I was thinking about three options and would like opions about which one you'd choose. 1. Put the boat in the slip for the 2...

Re: Seeking all opinions
My wife also wanted a power boat as well. Now she can't wait until the sails are up and the motor is off as it is more peaceful .The tube and tow line have only been used once. As long as the lines are led aft and she doesn't have to do any work she'll be happy no matter what boat you buy :D . The p...

Mast was struck by Lightning
Yesterday I received a call from a person at my marina who said my mast was observed by a couple of people getting hit by lightning. I looked the boat all over but can't find any damage at all. I had taped all the turnbuckles with white tape and didn't see any signs of burn marks or melting. The shr...

Re: M mast cost??
In July I paid $2400 for new mast, spreaders, shroud lines and extrusion for my rf. I found a dealer who always buys two extra masts with every boat for such problems (Dowser Marine in Hamilton Ont). I was lucky to find him because RCR yachts (who my insurance adjuster wanted me to use)was going to ...

Re: Meals on board
Starkist chicken or salmon or albacore pouches aren't bad and don't need refrigeration. Or even heating (I've eaten them like a popsicle out of the pouch when desperate). Also Hormel complete meals are pretty good and also don't need refrigeration and can be nuked or boiled. There are green baggies ...

Demasted due to ring ding
Last year my furler sock twisted around and damaged my forestay wire at the top. So this year I tied the sock bottom to the anchor roller to prevent that. Sunday night that line twisted and ended up breaking the ring ding on the bow (found broken ring but no clevis) causing demasting and bent mast, ...

Thanks for raising that question. Now I have another. At the end of the season last year I tried to lower my mast alone in a strong breeze and bent the eazy stays on my shroud lines. I just switched to turn buckles and was wondering if raising the mast will be any different ? I have them adjusted to...

On a related topic. I lost the trailer brake lockout piece. Anyone know where to get a replacement. My tow vehicle is a 2007 Honda Pilot. It was too big of a pain to wire the backup light electric lockout. Plus its a lease vehicle. I used a woodworking clamp today but would like a better solution. I...

Catigale, Do you still sail out of Wilson? That's a pretty long ride. I do plan on doing some Lake Ontario sailing this summer. There are more destinations to day sail to, than the Lake Erie/Buffalo area. Although I am getting a slip at the small boat harbour for the summer so I can use it more. I'l...

No need for panic about the weather here yet. The Marinas here don't open until early May. The ice on Lake Erie is breaking up nicely. The winter off street parking ban ended in my town 2 days ago so now I can get my boat out of storage. My wife will lose the drive way for a month while I prep the bo...
