I'm old school

and feel you should always tow with capacity to spare....

Why would you invest the $ in the boat only to subject yourself to undue stress by towing with a marginal vehicle?

Also the "levelers" do just that and nothing more to increase the tow-ablity of the vehicle their installed on. IMHO

Have you thought about

cutting down the poles on your bimini to be able to clear the boom? Shouldn't be but a few inches from what I've seen.

Not sure about the dodger though....

Thanks for the tip

Tony, also may want to remember to check the bearing buddies for grease while you're at it.

Had the same issues...

but with a 26D. Thought I could get by for the season with my old Taurus. After much discussion here and other forums I ended up buying a used Pathfinder 4x4, glad I did as I don't have to worry about weight limits etc. Better to be over capacity than under is my thought here. You also need to consi...

Just bought my '88 D

and paid $6500 US for it. Came with a Johnson 9.9 and 4 sails. Not a lot of mods, which is nice 'cause I want to make her mine my way.

It does have compass, VHF and depth finder but that's about it.

tiller to motor mod

I saw a 26 D with the tiller attached to the motor via a straight metal rod from the rudder mount to the engine so I know it can be done, but IMHO why bother when you can lock the motor straight and steer with the tiller. One less thing to go wrong when your out enjoying your sail. p.s. I'll look fo...

Gas in lazerette...

I have an '88 D with the fuel in the lazerette with 2 vent scoops on the aft deck, on facing forward the other aft.

Am in the process of adding flooring and a shelf to make it more secure and easier access.

I haven't noticed any build up of fumes with this set up.
