Re: 1980 Johnson 6hp Outboard Problem
I had the out drive replaced back in Fall of 08. Payed $500.00 for a used one. Guess that's what I get. I spent way too much on this old motor but I hope I can fix it till I can get a new 4 stroke. It looks like I need what is called a "Drive pin". Cost about 1$. Just hope that's all I nee...

Re: 1980 Johnson 6hp Outboard Problem
Thanks for the response. Is this sear pin something easy to fix? I am not going to be back in Florida till Friday, but would love to take my boat out this extended weekend. I looked at a few online exploded views but haven't been able to find the part or part number. I see that Iboats has shear pins...

1980 Johnson 6hp Outboard Problem
Hey outboard mechanics out there. I have a questing for you. I have an older 1980is 6hp Johnson Outboard. Last weekend when I was motoring back to the docks we were cruising along at full throttle and all of sudden the motor RPMs went sky high and I shut it off right away. I thought we though the pr...

Re: Transom Modification
smoyer, I like your idea. I haven't tried at all to fit any plywood in the transom but did figure it has a nice curve that would be hard to match. I don't really like the idea of putting too many holes in my boat and would like to make it so you cant tell I did any thing from the outside. Pictures w...

Re: Removing and Re-bedding windows
I have been thinking about doing the same thing with mine. I have called around and haven' t found any sutable rubber seal that matches the "H" style that holds in the plexi windows.
Let me know if you find anything.

Trim
I have looked around for some trim but haven't found any. I have the rubber type that hold the plex windows in. (1979 25 Mac)If I get the windows wet or water in the trim, the seals will bleed black all over my boat. I thought about removing and trying to reseat with silicon but I think it will just...
