It was so hard pulling the wire through the chainplate area Im thinking of dropping back and going with Chip's route. If the wire is h...

Launching Routines

Billy - I like your MR. C (Motor Rudder Centerboard) acronym - Thanks for sharing that. When we decided to slip Catigale last year instead of trailering her, I was concerned that my launching routine would get rusty so I thought of a new system of reminders. We use large (4 inch) color coded clothes...

I yield my "Elegance in Simple Engineering" award to Billy for his bungee cord under the CB solution...thats it for me. 1 Safety for the CB on the road ...if you put it in the middle you could envision it protecting against either hangar or line failure 2 Adjustable 3 Cheap 4 Easy to imple...

2002 X Centerboard

I can confirm the 2002 X and trailer combination can hang the centerboard forward of the aft bunk. I regard it as one my few great successful foresights in boating (Im a beginner) that I threw a 3/8 line between the trailer beams "in case I ever forgot to secure the CB line" Trailered home...

Off topic - reply to "should you carry a gun while sail

Reading the posts on this topic is a Fascinating look at this issue - the media only reports the far left and right views while the debate here shows the issue for what it really is... Different rules for the ranch on Texas vs midtown Manahattan rather than a 'Federal' cookie cutter law.... Sorry fo...

heres my tips on rigging quickly

I broke down and slipped Catigale in the Hudson last season, I logged 700 miles on her that year! When I did trailer her I disconnect the CDI furler/150 Genoa at the fractional rig and then pull the whole furler flush with the mast and put a sail tie every 3 feet. The Furler and furler line go into ...

Fuel tanks, running to empty

Catigale (Mercury 50 Bigfoot EFI, 2002) splutters when she runs dry..I pull the throttle back to idle, then switch tanks while she still runs. I once let it idle to see how long it would run...about three minutes. I dont have to reprime obviously with this approach. When I have run dry I pump 2-3x. ...
