Re: Moving to AK drive or ship my 26x?
I live in Palmer Alaska. I trailered my 2006 M from Alaska to Mexico in November 2009 - yes November. We towed it on the stock trailer with a single axel. I brought along tools, spare bearings etc. and we had no significant problems. We used the boat as a camper along the way and that worked great. ...

Bottom Paint
Hi, I know this has been discussed before, but I got a PM tonight regarding how to get the boat off the bunks, to paint the bottom of the hull. It always seems to be a topic of interest, so for what it’s worth, I thought I would post my reply. The front of the boat is very light as it sits on the tr...

Re: Running Wires to Masthead
I fabricated a long bit by welding a couple lengths of emt conduit together, tack welding a forstner bit to one end and a large spike (head first) to the other. I attached a drill to the spike-shaft and drilled out the foam. You can get through the foam in a couple of minutes (not counting fabricati...

Re: Towing Alaska to Mexico
Thanks for the info Chinook.
I agree. Being able to trailer the Mac is a huge advantage. We occasionally kick around the idea of “upgrading” to a bigger sailboat but always decide to stick with the Mac because of its versatility.

Towing Alaska to Mexico
I intend to tow a 2006, 26M with a steel trailer from Palmer, Alaska to San Carlos, Mexico in early November. I plan to take a couple of extra, spare tires and an extra set of bearings. I considered taking an entire hub assembly along but haven’t found one yet. I’d like to hear from anyone who’s don...

Re: Think I am going to pull the trigger.
I painted the bottom of my boat this spring on the trailer. Jack up the front to clear the bunks. Do those sections. Remove the jack, then prop up the back and raise the trailer tongue. The stern will clear the back bunks. Do that part. Not fun, but it wont kill you, unless you inhale the fumes. I l...
