Re: Buyer Beware!!!
Sorry for your misfortune Aussie-Mate but I oddly find some comfort in knowing the US is not the only country with brain-sucking mind-melting spirit-deflating bureaucracies!

Re: Sewing machines on the cheap - what to look for
Great thread and much needed! I was faced with the same dilemma a couple years ago when I needed to make lots of small repairs to a bunch of my stuff. (Sails & Canvas etc.) After some serious thinking and consideration I came to the conclusion that I didn’t know enough about sewing machines or n...

Re: Sailing Lake Powell (Arizona & Utah)
Hey Doug, what model kayaks are you towing? They look like they don't fill with water and cause resistance or sink!

Re: Charging batteries with shore power question
md80max, If I were you I would trace from the charge connection to where your wiring ends. Usually the Perko switch is simply switching the battery power to the rest of the boat. Depending on where you set the Perko switch will increase or lessen the electrical current load on the batteries. There c...

Question about how to remove stern rail on a 26D
I tried to do a search here but wasn't very successful so sorry if this isn't a new topic but I could use a little help/pics if anyone has the knowledge. I'm trying to remove the stern rail from my 26D and it is the typical rail that begins on the top of the transom and ends at the top of the bulkhe...

Re: When do you Reef?
Exactly like Grady says. It's all about feel. You are going to feel like it is a handful and just too much work to enjoy. Remember sails spill wind for speed & comfort. When you feel that you aren't spilling enough wind to achieve your desired comfort level then reef. You will then feel you have...

Re: Anchor Light - Crazy idea
I was thinking about creating a long string of solar lights to run up the forestay, over the masthead, then down the backstay. (But haven't had time to do it yet.) I've seen this done a couple times during some harbor parades we've had down here in Newport/Balboa. Looks pretty cool!

Re: What size boat fenders do you use for docking?
Maybe for a small lake those would be ok. To the OP we've gone through the trials with fenders and have found the bigger the better. Not necessarily easy to store but small fenders become extremely problematic. Esp.with more movement at the dock! (Tide, waves, passing boats, winds etc.) Right after ...

What is this wooden tiller-lookin thang?
Hi! Just picked up an '88 26D and this thing was under the setee. Can anyone help me understand what it is used for? It is hook-like on the end and it appears it has a cut-out for a round ball-like item to leverage on more toward the middle. http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r254/Hydro_Ron/Loala/Ti...
