Now that I have had some experience with the LOOS tension gage I just wanna let you guys know that if you are not using a tension gage of some sort you probably do not get your shrouds tight enough. Before I got this gage I thought I at least had the tension on my shrouds somewhere in the "ball...

I consider any open ocean to be "blue water." I sail my 26m in the western caribbean but normally not far offshore of the cayman islands. once you leave protected harbor in my opinion you are in blue water. I have only had my mac for about 6 months, and when i am comfortable enough with he...

Mikie UK,
Yea, she is a great 1st m8 for sure. I don't live in the UK, I live in the Cayman Islands. So I don't think I can help your friend out with the dagger board.

I have only had my 26m for about 5 months, and I am very pleased with it. I took the advice in a previous post and had my wife pick up a LOOS tension gage for me from West Marine when she was in the US last month. The LOOS gage is one nifty item, and I think everyone who owns a mac should have one o...

26M wags on a mooring at anchor

My :macm: tends to wag quite a bit while on my mooring. I assume that a lot of you have the same problem. Any cures that you guys can suggest???? I have tried leaving the centerboard down a bit, but I dont like doing this because of the possibility of the mooring line getting wrapped around it. Same...

Moe,
I just re read ur post, and noticed you are using a df50. Thanks for the input. I will try to get a 9" pitch. Have you tried using a 4 blade vs the 3 blade?

I appreciate the input from you guys. I would still like to hear from someone who has a df50 on their Mac before I spend the money on a new prop. In your opinion do you think I should go to a larger diameter without the cup or a 9 or 10 pitch or both?

Prop pitch for DF50 on 26M

I am interested to know what props others are using on their 26M's with Suzuki DF50 outboards. The prop that came on my engine is a C3X11.6X11 I am not sure what those numbers mean, but I have not been happy with the performance of this prop. It seems to cavitate a lot when excellerating. I would ap...
