Re: sealing hull/liner/deck joint
Well, I have heard a few say 5200 should be avoided, or at the very least is for securing something that you never want to remoe again. I was thinkinking of a "paint" on type sealant.

sealing hull/liner/deck joint
Think I have determined my 26 is taking on water at this joint--the rubrail doesnt fit well in areas, I pulled most of it off and its obvious someone has done quite a but of "sealing" under there with at least two different types of sealant. There a a few areas where the joint has a crack ...

Re: outboard mounting
Thanks Sum. Always appreciate your input. While you were wriging, I was looking at your pictures. Dont know that I want to add metal and a pulpit--would rather raise the mounting point if thats possible. Just get the motor higher. Did like your lazerette floor though. Think I wil do that!!

Trying to get my 1992 26s cleaned up and set up for the spring. I mounted the Johnson 8hp sail drive yesterday in the motor well. It sits so low, that I dont know if it has enough room to turn well (the control handle). How do you guys' handle this? Also--is there a video of how to handle a non-elec...

Never found a keel.......
For my 1980 V-22. Its a shame because this boat was given to me and is in such good shape. I bought a 1992 26S dave decided to part out the V-22 out to get back some of the cost of the 26. All parts there (except the swing keel) and in good condition. Email me....

trailer dimensions
Finally did it--I gave up on finding a keel for the V22, and bought a 1993 26S. Now to get it up here from Charleston. The boat is 12" back from fully on (resulting in negative tongue weight), one flat tire, and the worse thing, the trailer cross members are so rusted and bent I dont feel safe ...

Re: Help me find a used keel
Chock, I waas close to getting a steel keel from a guy in vA. Then the guy at Blue Water STRONGLY advised me not to try to rebuild one of those, saying the rebuilding of the fiberglass or resin would nto be worth it. He suggested a used cast one. I then went to a local foundry with the diagram. Basi...

Re: Removing the keel bolt for inspection. How to slide it out?
One quick observation. Based on my 1980 V22 keel falling off, the the keel pin still being in and being in relatively good shape (just a very slight curve, some light rust), I would say the pin is not the main concern. I assume, but dont know, that this was the original pin...

Re: Help me find a used keel
Ooooh--that hurts.
No, it is at the bottom of Lake Murray, SC somewhere. I have a diagram from Blue Water. I had a lead on a used keel but the gentleman wont call me back. And in the mean time good sailing weather is slipping by like my boat slipped back without the keel......

Re: Cast Iron Swing Keel
Nice post. I am a case in point. Got a 1980 v-22 a year ago, spent that time working on it. Never got around to the keel. First time sailing--keep down (did not use lockdown bolt--at that time, I did not know it was bent into a "U' shape from non-use). Hit rough wake, heard a noise, could not l...

Re: Down goes the keel.....
sumner--I like how you bounce back and forth like I do! I havent called that gentleman yet. My father in law has been out of town, will go over all these ideas saturday. As far as the individual with the used boat, I keep thinking about if a used 30+ yr old keel will be better than the one that brok...
