Re: Investing in paint for my ‘98X

Over easy and be free said, As Be Free aptly pointed out…Similarly engine orientation affects the oil flow through the engine… the oil pump is better flooded during operation when in the down position and gets a more solid source of oil to pump. When in the up position the oil pump has less of a poo...

Re: Investing in paint for my ‘98X

just checking in with my buds still following my saga. Getting the Yamaha running with mouse ears about every 2-3 weeks. Turns out the engine prefers being in the fully down position for that evolution. Tried doing it in the up position for travel since it was in that position the first time I tried...

Re: Investing in paint for my ‘98X

Just a quick update. My son and brother have decided to take our O'Day Sprite to a local marina for a few months this spring so they can sail it while I'm on the binnacle list with my knee surgery. I so happy to see them stepping up and making plans to sail her. Here she is pulling out of my yard be...

Re: Dockline practicality - where is your bitter end?

I am with Over Easy When landing we utilize our two boat hooks (fore and aft) to snag the dock cleats. I can generally lasso the aft dock cleat from the cockpit and temporarily tie off to the boat cleat while the Admiral holds the bow on to the dock cleat with the boat hook. I then get off the boat ...

Bill/Be Free wrote: Louis L'Amour, on the other hand, wrote consistently good (if somewhat repetitive) stories. They are not highbrow literary works by any stretch but I'll pick up a L'Amour or Zane Grey story any time. Amazing (or as the Brits would say, "Brilliant.!"). My other hobby tha...

Re: Investing in paint for my ‘98X

:D :D :D Let me know when you are ready to step it and I'll be there! I can raise an "X" mast with my eyes closed. That’s what I don’t see enough of; blind obedience :!: :D Well, we Florida X Mac owners must be out to make a mark for ourselves: stepping a mast---one guy blindfolded and th...

Bill/be free said: Let me know if you need any help. I'd love an excuse to see that new paint job in person. Actually, that may be a real thing. My surgeon and several testimonials on YouTube have indicated that I may not want to kneel much after I get the new knee. He said there is no medical reaso...

Bravo Herschel! Bravo! Glad you got that out of the way! Please don’t over do it (I’m guilty of that :| :o :D :D as the Admiral will attest…). The carpet padding is a great idea Russ! I’ve used those split foam pipe insulating sleeves with good success to distribute loads and smooth out pointy plac...

Re: Investing in paint for my ‘98X

Success. Found a way to get into boat despite gimpy leg. :D Got first of two tarps over boat. Checked out new power panel, got shore power plugged in. Old geezer stanchion extenders came in handy for creating greater height for tarp and less contact with sharp edges of mast and rigging. Not bad for ...

After careful analysis of my MRI's and X-rays on both knees following two years of less invasive efforts to deal with osteoarthritis including platelet rich injections (PRP), three episodes of physical therapy, osteopathic manipulation, exer...

Re: Investing in paint for my ‘98X

That is some fine work. When are you going to try it out? Good question. Next stop is the tech at the marina to get a new 12-volt panel installed, then stepping the mast and getting it back on the water. After a nice day on the water (Lake Monroe), I'll reassemble the cockpit enclosure at my slip a...

Re: Investing in paint for my ‘98X

Great news: got my new Bimini. Tech made every effort to "marry it" to the cockpit enclosure from the old Bimini, tightening up the corners to eliminate any gaps using Velcro strips of extra Sunbrella material, used zippers to attach to frame rather than just a sleeve, dipped the dodger in...
