Re: Kid Safety on Macs

I would also advise against tethering to the boat while under way. As others have said... it is too easy to get tangled in one of the many lines on the boat or even to have the tether wrap around their neck or their sibling's neck. Best to keep a quality, good fitting, PFD on when outside of the cab...

Forestay replacement on 2004 26M

Hello all! After noticing several broken wires on our forestay cable, we decided to order a replacement from BWY. Our boat is currently on the trailer (mast down) in front of our house. Any tips on installing the replacement forestay? Yes, we have the CDI furler. My plan was to attach a line to the ...

Re: A Mac sighting

Just saw on the news that the locks are going to be out of service for the rest of the week. Apparently they were struck by lightning.

Re: Deck wash pump

Yeah,

We used to use it for water fights during sailboat races when there was no wind. Lots of fun! :)

There is always the low-tech solution http://www.nrsweb.com/shop/product.asp?pfid=2790 http://images.nrsweb.nrsweb.com.edgesuite.net/image/media/2790_250x250.jpg There are many different brands of these water blasters that work like a hypodermic needle. Re: West coast\ Salt water upgrades?

Yes, you can beach for short periods of time at some locations, but keep in mind that the farther North you go the larger the tidal fluctuation. The difference between low and high tide can be more than 20 feet (vertically) in the Pacific North West and tides change twice per day. Also keep in mind ...

Re: Labor Day Sucia Experiences.......what were they??

This would have been a much better weekend for the Sucia trip. We just got home from a day out in the islands, absolutely gorgeous! We found a quiet beach on Matia to pull into the beach on the high tide and have lunch and enjoy the sun. We didn't pull into Sucia, but it looked as if those bays were...

Re: Labor Day Sucia Experiences.......what were they??

We were going to go out, but when we saw the PITCH boat fleet recalled because of high winds (many of which returned to port with broken rigging) we decided to just stay home. Monday would have been a nice day to go out, but by then I was getting my classroom ready for the start of school.

Re: Wallas 800/210 Stove

It does take a few minutes for the stove to warm up, how long are you letting it run before shutting it off? The fan on the top unit will only run once the burner is hot. I believe the light on the switch flashes on it's start up and shutdown cycles as well.

Re: lost windex

Fortunately it's easy to lower the mast so you can work on it at ground level rather than up at the top tied off with a rope. You won't know the extent of the damage without lowering the mast, but if just the windex was involved, it's unlike that the repair would be too complicated, you may have to ...

Re: Too hot to sail

At 104 deg F in the shade we will be trailering to the north Puget Sound later next week for some 80 deg weather. Is there anyone else who has to leave home for cooler weather to sail without having heatstroke ? It's currently raining in the North Puget Sound, but this weekend is supposed to be sun...
