Re: Rigging Adjustment Tool

I made a pair of these and it worked out really well for making the adjustments. One thing I did differently that ended up working extremely well was added an additional washer and nut after inserting the tool through the holes (a wing nut would work better.) This way the tool is held securely to th...

Re: MacX Standing Rigging

Okay, that makes sense. I just remove the pin that secures the luff pole to the drum and it should slide up and give me access? Thanks so much for the quick reply.

Re: MacX Standing Rigging

Okay, I think I've got a decent idea of how I will go about most of my tuning, but still have a question regarding my CDI furler. Is it normal for the forestay (well, cable anyway) running through the center of the furler to be loose? On my old C27 my roller furling setup was quite taut, but now tha...

Kicker Motor

I have an old Nissan 3.3hp long shaft outboard that is in great condition just siting in my garage ever since it was removed from another boat (a 19' Cape Dory Typhoon). After my engine problems on my first shakedown cruise I started considering adding it as a backup motor off the starboard side. I ...

Re: Shakedown Cruise Survived

I'll be sure to take a look at my fuel system tomorrow afternoon. I need to replace my fuel tank anyway since the previous owner snapped the neck on my fuel tank and it appears to have been secured back in place with PVC pipe and glue :? I'm not decided on whether to go with a single 12 gallon tank ...

MacX Standing Rigging

While we were doing our abbreviated shakedown cruise on Labor Day, I noticed that the standing rigging on my new (to me) boat appears to be way too loose. I have looked in the manual and also referred to this forum and other sites trying to get a good idea of what I should do with this rigging setup...

Shakedown Cruise Survived

Well, I survived my shakedown cruise on my new (to me) Mac 26x today out of Guilford, CT :) The forecast was great with 3ft waves at 6.5s intervals with 5-15 mph winds. We planned to launch about an hour before high tide but due to a busy ramp and it taking about an hour to raise the rigging and boo...

Going over new boat

Hello all, My name is Matt, and I recently bought a 2001 Macgregor 26X that I will be sailing out of Connecticut, mostly in the sound but with the occasional coastal cruise or trip to the Cape. I and am currently in the process of going over the boat getting ready to put it in the water for the firs...
