Re: Biggest ever rally

The Admiral and I were at the Olympics in August, and had a chance to take a side trip to meet Andy. A true English gentleman. After a nice day on the boat, we went to a pub for some food. Ray Hi Ray It was a great day when you both came over to see me at Tollesbury. You were the best husband and w...

Re: Bad Mouthing the MacGregor

Every single boat has its plus and minus points. In the end I choose against the Mac not because the X or M are not great boats, but because I wanted to sail further offshore more often than not. Every time I get to sail with my X or M buddies I always have the best time :D To see people enjoying th...

Re: MacGregor at the Southampton Boat Show

The belief is that Macgregor has consistently sold every boat produced, and is actually capped in production by local regs at his facility. Thus there is little incentive to market the boat to up sales, since he would have to move production to do this. Move to China? A Mac with a Junk rig, there's...

Re: Long distance sailing in a small boat

Practical Boat Owner (a UK mag) Oct 2003 p44-49 in "Sou'wester Sam Heads South" recounts a Mac 26X cruise from Salcombe in UK to the Med Spanish coast. Two legs were on rivers/canals. One leg crossed a portion of the Bay of Biscay, on the bottom of which rests the centerboard. Same X did ...

Re: Long distance sailing in a small boat

One guy I read about, sailed his Yarmouth 23 across Biscay, and then crossed the Atlantic to Brazil . . . . . single handed in a 23ft Gaff Cutter, quite a feat! You can read about his adventures on http://www.yarmouth23.co.uk/brazil.html Anyone tried a voyage like that in a McGregor? That guy takes...

MacGregor at the Southampton Boat Show

Was at the boat show set up yesterday and it was great to see a pristine new MacGregor 26M arriving on its trailer just as we were leaving. It was great to see the the Mac represented at the show after a few years abscence. The world's best selling power sailor needs to be seen in the UK !I will cer...

Feeling a bit disloyal but owe you guys so much

Whilst looking for a Mac 26x/m I just, by chance, stumbled upon this gaff rigged boat, so sorry it was love at first sight/ sail http://www.yarmouth23.co.uk/y2312.html It hasn't all the attributes of a Mac, but it just felt right for us. I owe my Mac owning friends and the members of this site a gre...

Re: Mac'M Ballast Tank Leak ?

When Macgregor sold boats in the UK themselves, they used a seperate retail engine seller, who had installed stacks of engines onto Macs, but since they pulled their own dedicated sales out of the UK about 18 months ago, the new agent, apparently doesn't have a clue about Macs :? :o . My guess thou...
