Re: Rudder Quick Release

Here is what I did to mine. I started the line tied off at the cleat on the cockpit coaming. It the goes down to the rudder. On the rudder I have a block that halves the lifting effort. The block is held to the back side of the rudder by a big becket. You can see it in the picture I will attach. Onc...

Re: Need new steering!

Over, Let me see if I can answer all your questions. The hydraulic ram has two bent rods that go through the engine pivot, they are covered in the blue mesh in my picture. Those rods are connected to the ram which is under the stops that are red in the picture. Those stops are to keep the engine ste...

Re: Trailer: Rotten woods

Kurz,
Just did this for my trailer. Pressure treated two by (width you want) is what I used. Backed the boat into the water at the ramp and worked on it while it was on the dock. If you have a busy dock just anchor out and park your trailer while you work on it. Tony

I hope this works for showing how dirty my boat is and the hydraulic steering setup I used.

Re: Need new steering!

I think my system is a Vevor system I bought off of eBay. It is for outboards up to 150 hp. They have three different sizes. The smaller one I thought wouldn’t work with my Evinrude 115. My unit is sized perfectly. I don’t have the delay that NiceAft was talking about. I just got off the phone with ...

Re: Need new steering!

I installed a hydraulic system on my X earlier this year. Should have done it a long time ago. It makes steering so much easier. It holds a course. With the tubing, uou cut it to the correct length easily. Follow the directions and it sets up quick. I can send pictures or answer questions if needed....

Re: Swim & Fisher platform

Russ, think the configuration that comes through the motor pivot tube is slightly different. Like I said earlier the person that replied to me initially did not get back to me after I asked about the hydraulic setup I have. I’m taking the Mac out tomorrow to splash it and take some measurements alon...

Re: Swim & Fisher platform

Hello Y'all, I am making a swim platform like the one Profusion Marine makes. I have hydraulic steering on my Evinrude 115. I asked them if their platform could work on a hydraulic system. He responded that he would look into it and get back with me. As far as I saw he never did. For the platform I ...

Re: Block and tackle for positioning mast to step

To answer some questions for y’all, Where I had the boat on the trailer in preparation for launching it, the boat was angled down towards the bow. This kept on causing the mast to push forward towards the bow. Since there is nothing to brace against in that area I put together the block and tackle. ...

Block and tackle for positioning mast to step

Hey y’all, I use a boat setup area at my lake. Unfortunately for me where I have to park to setup the mast it is pointing now down. With Roger designing the X with nothing to push on near the mast step it took me a while to get the mast positioned and pinned. I thought about it and rigged a block an...

Re: X Mast Step

The bolts that actually mount the step to the cabin top I’m pretty sure are 1/4”. Length I would say is no longer than 1 1/2”. I think the bolt that the mast pivots on is 3/8”, maybe 7/16”. Check your email. I sent you pictures there.

Re: X Mast Step

Here is the link to the mast step on Blue Water Yachts web page. I think it is the same as the one that came on the boat originally. I bought my boat from them but I wouldn't think they would have changed out the factory step. I can send the dimensions on Friday. I will send you a pm with my number ...

I wasn't able to post photos from my iPhone nor my iPad. I had to use my Mac, ironic. I posted the pictures as a mod on the mods page. If you have questions I hope I can help. Tony

Posting new mods from iPhone or ipad

Hello Y’all,
I’m trying to post a mod from either my iPhone or iPad. I can log into both devices but it doesn’t have the post mod button that I can see on a computer. Is it in a different spot for those two devices? Thanks, Tony
