Re: Max26x Repower: Suzuki DF60A vs DF60AV

My experience has been that the 26X does better in every respect with more pitch. With both engines operating just under their max RPM: ETEC 90, 2.0:1 gear ratio, 5500rpm 14x11 prop, 25mph max Suzuki Df90A, 2.6:1 gear ratio, 6000rpm, 13.75x15 prop, 30mph max So in theory, both motors give the same H...

Re: Swing Keel rope replacement

Flash forward 4 years after dropping the board and replacing the centerboard line. I replaced it again today. For the last 4 years we had the "upgraded" dyneema line from BWyachts, and unfortunately it wasn't a good choice for the centerboard line. On my boat the line runs through cam clea...

Re: Your best mod for the least money

This string of USB-powered waterproof lights hung with clothes-pegs around the cockpit give a fantastic ambiance, low power draw, and are great for playing late-night card games. They really make the cockpit into another "room" to enjoy at night. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07SW6Y6D3...

Your best mod for the least money

I think this one is near the top of the list. Makes it super easy to haul the wheel around during docking, and provides a non-visual way of confirming the steering center point.

What's yours?

Re: Favorite fans and bonus humidity question

Hello all, I'd like to add a couple fans to my D. I think I'd like to install a mounted one for the V berth for the kids, and one that I can clip to the companion way ladder to use for the aft berth or rotate around and shoot into the cabin when we're eating. The V berth I would hard wire but the a...

Re: What document(s) show proof of ownership?

In addition to proof of insurance, my club wants proof of ownership (Dockmaster confided he only needs it for the VIN). My wife dug up the folder of stuff from 11 years ago. Lots of documents, don't know which is which. I've got a Pleasure craft license document, whoch has both the PO's info and my...

Re: Calculating tow weight - back of the napkin math

There have been a couple of 26X owners who have weighed their boats. The Jill Kristy came in at just over 5000 lbs, and Richard posted the details here. From memory, I've seen posts of 26Xs weighed at 4800 and 5200 lbs. I've always decided to own tow vehicles with rated towing of at least 6k lbs. Th...

Re: Getting a new rub rail... what else?

Should the seams be sealed under the rub rail? Anything else I should be doing when I'm in there? I'm hoping to avoid leaks. 26S by the way... Thanks! I sealed the top of the rubrail with black Mono Ultra Exterior more than 5 years , and its held up perfectly. Zero detachment, but a bit of color fa...

Re: Bottom paint

Preparing to put bottom paint on my boat while on the trailer.. how do people get access to the areas touched by the bunks? You can use a 2-ton auto jack to lift one end at a time off of the trailer. you need to use some plywood and wood scraps to disperse the load and not damage the hull but it's ...

Re: Honda BF2.3 Kicker

I have a lovely Tohatsu 15hp outboard and a dinghy... I'm thinking that rather than trying to get it onto the Mac, which doesn't currently have a mount for it anyway... why not leave it on the dinghy? That way if the main engine fails I can tow the boat home or to safety via the dinghy, rather than...

Re: Honda BF2.3 Kicker

An update on the Honda 2.3. It'll consistently push the X at about 4mph in calm situations, but it's very, very hard to maneuver the boat to a dock with it. Without remote throttle controls, and reverse being a 180 rotation of the whole motor by hand, it's really an emergency option only. It's taken...

Re: Fuel water separator recommendation

A few weeks into operation: everything working perfectly, switching tanks is an absolute breeze, and nice to be able to see clean fuel in the cup. Now I'm thinking of using the second fuel outlet to run to a second primer bulb and shutoff valve, so that I can refuel the dinghy/kicker motor right fro...

Re: Motor choice

Dealers in my area aren't discounting from list prices shown on Suzuki.ca. The DF60A lists for $11,517 CDN which is about $8,400 USD. After that, there's $150 in freight, the installation and any additional hardware required (like a reinforcement plate, bolts, gauges, etc.). This is for the DF60ATL ...

Re: Furler/Luff fitment question

If you want to fix it, then yes that track goes down into the furler, you have to pull the pin, set it all the way down, drill and re-insert the pin so that the track will not move in our out. Hmm, that's not exactly how I remember it, when I changed mine. The furler luff on mine just sits on TOP o...
