Re: Bahamas 2025 Planning
Are those fees listed for the three month cruising permit? Or are they for the longer period, Ix I believe the fees cover a full year. The new regulations require AIS transmission for larger yachts. We would be exempt, but we did add a Raymarine AIS700 tranceiver with full transmit capabilities, fo...

Re: Tips for anchoring a 26X
Hi folks! New 26X owner here. I anchored a few times and find the anchor locker and cleat arrangement to be cumbersome. I don't have a bow roller or anything -- just a danforth style anchor with a bit of chain and rope. I find that deploying or retrieving the anchor with the locker open is super aw...

Re: Repowering with smaller engine options
Slightly off thread topic, Star, do you think would it be possible to empty that tank with a 1200 gph regular bildge pump? I’d love to get rid of that funky ballast tank gate valve and use something else like a smaller PVC ball valve. Not sure how the pump water suction pickup would work. Well, yes...

Re: Repowering with smaller engine options
No data on that question, but if ballast emptying with a 20HP is an issue, it can be done with air or water pumps instead.

Re: Shop Vac for down below?
For me it was worth it in case of a water tank leak or other spilled water situation. Nice to be able to suck a bunch of water up if needed. Plus, it doesn't HAVE to remain in there. When I need more space, I can always leave it out. Another multi-purpose option is the ol' Home Depot Bucket Head. I...

Re: Bahamas 2025 Planning
As of July 1 2025 the Bahamas have upped their cruising fees. Previously $300 USD including a fishing license for a Mac26. Now it's $500 excluding fishing license + 200 for an anchoring fee unless you only stay at marinas, plus $300 for a fishing license, plus $30 per person above 3 people. There is...

Re: Adding LiON to existing system
Outboard <--> lead acid start battery --> dc-dc charger --> lithium house bank. Cheap(ish), safe, easy. This is what our configuration ends up as, just with the addition that our DC-DC converter has an integrated MPPT solar controller as well. Ya, woulda been so easy except I love not having to eve...

Re: Adding LiON to existing system
I must have misunderstood something in your setup. How does the engine charge the lithium battery? It doesn't. The Lithium battery only gets charged via solar or shorepower. I didn't want to connect it to my alternator. I have the new 10A lithium charger here on the table beside me, will install it...

Re: Adding LiON to existing system
Bill, thank you so much for your well thought out replies. Your comments are spot-on. My current layout isn't ideal, but it was born from the triple goal of 1)adding available energy to our trips 2) maintaining my "forget it" setup that doesn't require switching batteries for the season an...

Re: Adding LiON to existing system
Starscream, I don't remember the size of your lithium bank but I thought you said you either had or were thinking about a pair of 135Ah batteries. If I'm remembering wrong just modify the math as required. LiFePO4 batteries are usually charged at .2C to 1C so for a 270Ah bank that would suggest a 5...

Re: Adding LiON to existing system
Now that we have one trip under our belts with the LiFEPO4 battery, I should update this idea in case anyone follows my footsteps. What I discovered is that the system mostly works as planned, but with one particular problem. When leaving the boat on shore power, so that both my normal single-bank A...

Re: Raymarine Axiom 7-RV MFD with RealVision Transducer
Thanks for the info. Planning on installing mine on the drain valve of my 26M,. Making a plate with a 3" hole and using the 4 screws to hold it on. Then bolting/stainless riveting the existing bracket to that plate. As for run time, I run 2 batteries.. one for start, one for house. Hope I get ...

Re: What model/year?
New here and interested in getting a boat- Can anyone tell me what model this one is & approximate year? Hi AR, It's a 26X, manufactured between 1995 and 2004. Based solely on the bow light position and type, I'd say it's a 97 or 98. If you take a photo of the serial number which is riveted to ...

Sorry I can't help with saltwater questions. I do feel for you saltwater guys, though. Here's a photo of my 2014 black-steel trailer after countless freshwater dunkings. I'm afraid of what's going to happen to it after our Bahamas attempt this winter. https://1drv.ms/i/c/61fa2ece26d7300d/IQTBu_Vs3vc...

Re: Recomendatioms for cleaning cosckpit cusions
Ok, went over the cushions with Magic Easer once and then with Starbright Vinvly Cleaner. Vert happy with results. Thank you again. 8) I have a 97X so I Iam pretty surprised at how well the cushions have held up. :| Now, to protect that new cushion-shine: I sewed strips of velcro into the two cockp...
