Curious, can a motorcycle rack , rail be added to one side o
To the rear of one of the nicer trailers, maybe stretch the neck out a bit, anyone seen, done this? I had a mac 26s for a number of years. I have a KTM 625 sxc or a xr650r I can use as a dual sport and would like to get back on a McGregor. .getting a bit older now. Have a strong engined camper van I...

Re: Water Ballast and -7c (19F)
Am I missing something? Why not just pull the boat out on the trailer?

Re: 5-6 mph wind
Neat. We have a 150 genoa - no furler, with the standard eyelets on deck, no tracks, anything like that. We'll have to give it a try. Sail came with the boat and the previous owner did not use it but once I think he said. Looks like a sloppy sail without the tracks to adjust for running close. Have ...

Re: Bad performance beating
ROAD soldier - Be real interested if you could photo your cutter rig or storm sail and how the rigging is done. I have a 26d. I see where what you say could be useful. How is it in heavy seas? Out here we get low 1-3 ft seas and 5 knot winds or greater winds and 5-6 ft rollers occasionally +. Some o...

Re: Is it worth it...?
Been in ur situation before. Wait it out until the right boat comes along unless both make offers u just can't refuse. We waited and bought a 90 d (last of) for little over $4k. Trailer was functional, some rust but all was well cared for. ..really clean boat. Guy even had engine and sailing logs in...

Re: 5-6 mph wind
Freedom- Just spoke to my attorney buddy from Vegas. He thought the lake a good sail as well. We'll have to give that a shot when the weather and time permits. Thanksgiving weekend we have some time but I think the drive to and from Mead will eat a lot up. We'll stay close to home this time. Might h...

Re: Towing feedback after 6500 miles
Interesting topic. http://lh6.ggpht.com/__-ZR9WWxtKo/TAJt6uYtEaI/AAAAAAAAAbY/Qex7nQRgQ0E/s400/2010-05-02%2012.16.20.jpg We tow using my 6 cyl 4 door jeep. Tows well considering it is a single axel. I do make sure I keep speeds below 60 mph, I added surge brakes to the trailer, and stretched the tong...

Re: 5-6 mph wind
Freedom- We have a original 150 genoa we have not yet used, we just get impatient in light wind. Don't know how well we can get it to tack with that sail. As of now the boat has orig. sails, and will only hold about 50 deg or so up wind. Lake Mead ... that's a place we're interested in trying out! T...

5-6 mph wind
- just curious - do you guys find this wind useful to sail in? We've been out several times in our Mac26d but rarely at that low speed. We have a genoa that came with the boat and have not tried it. Getting itchy to go out again but have not had favorable winds nor are they likely for a while. Do yo...

Got the basics - now some questions..
Hey all - Bought a 26d in May. Have had it out now more than a few times, and have a good sense of how it performs. Been out working the buoys off Dana Point. Want to do more advanced stuff and maybe save some $$ also. Any advice on the following is appreciated.. 1. The boat came with a genoa. Looks...

Re: advice on towing
Here we are loaded ready to go early tomorrow will take 1-2 weeks to get to the WA border, actually when I took this picture noticed a rear tyre was down and of course it wouldn't be the outer one would it? http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t14/boblee_2007/loaded002.jpg What's a "tyre?" :P

Re: Just did a shakedown cruise on the 26d new to me
Thanks- Good tips. I will look into tuning the rigging after a couple more trips. I gathered from the previous owner that was considered heavy seas! He left it tuned thusly for safety sake. He did not want the knockdown sensation while sailing with the wife. I've previously sailed coranado 15's, Hob...

Just did a shakedown cruise on the 26d new to me
@ Marina del Rey. Interesting boat, not a fast turner compared to the boats I am used to. I did notice the tendency to round into the wind. It was blowing about 12 mpg, there was a small craft advisory, 2-3 foot seas. Didn't seem much of a problem for me but the previous owner came along, thought it...
